Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #375

Oops - I'm a day late with my card! Anyone else having difficulty remembering what day it is? This pandemic is really messing with my sense of time and date. There is a new sketch for the challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Image may contain: text that says 'Sketch 375 Sentiment Createdby by Michelle Stewart for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge'

Here's my card

For my card, I started with the stenciled panel. I used Stampers Anonymous Mosaic Layering stencil with scattered straw, pumice stone and hickory smoke distress inks, applied with an ink blending tool. I trimmed the panel to 2" x 4.5" and matted with dark gray cardstock. I used some scraps of pastel cardstock for the banner and circle. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Salutations stamp set. I found some antique-looking paper for the background. I added a paper flower with a small flower brad to complete the card.

Rainbow Card Challenge #18

Who doesn't love a rainbow? The current challenge at Rainbow Card Challenge

Here's my card

I started with a white A2 card panel and added distress inks (cracked pistachio, tumbled glass, shaded lilac, spun sugar, dried marigold) applied with an oval make-up brush. I then stamped the sentiment using STAMPlorations' Typografia Motivate Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set and my MISTI. I, of course, added a few sparkly rhinestones because it needed "a little sparkle"!

Time Out Challenge #164

There is a great photo challenge at Time Out Challenges

Isn't this a great photo - so much to be inspired by. Here's my card

I started by stamping the cute pinata using Lawn Fawn's Year Seven stamp set on an A2 white card base with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers B29, BG05, G05, R29, RV23, Y15. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Hero Arts' inks Aquatic, Bubble Gum, Butter Bar, Indigo, Moss, Strawberry. For the word, SMASH!, I masked off each letter and stamped with a different color.

For the streamers, I used Sugar Pea Designs' Bring on the Cake stamp set. I stamped with Hero Arts Bubble Gum and Butter Bar. I fussy cut them and adhered them to the top of the card.

Sunday Stamps SSC 233

When I saw the color challenge at Sunday Stamps

I initially thought about the US flag. But then, I was thinking maybe something nautical. All of a sudden, the light bulb went off. Here's my card

I used Avery Elle's Beside the Sea stamp set and matching dies. I stamped the buildings (what are they anyway - changerooms? washrooms?) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers B02, B24, R05, W2 and die cut it with the matching die. For the background, I used Simon Says STAMP Clouds for Days stencil, light blue cardstock and salty ocean distress ink applied with an ink blending tool. For this 4.25" x 4.25" card, I die cut a circle using Sizzix circle dies. I adhered the sky background panel, so that it was visible through the circle. For the sentiment, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set on a scrap of taupe cardstock.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #395

Hi Friends! It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Sadly, this will be our last challenge until 2021 as our host will be taking a well-deserved break!

Here's my card

I was inspired by the graphic background in the center photo and the arrangement and colors of the flowers in the top center photo. I used various border stamps from Simon Says STAMP Life is a Journey, Mama Elephant Trifecta, Paper Smooches Tri-balation stamp sets. I used Versamark ink and clear embossing powder. I then added color with distress inks (faded jeans, chipped sapphire) applied with an ink blending tool. I trimmed the panel down to 3.75" x 4.25" and adhered it to a white A2 card base. I used scraps of cardstock to die cut the feathers using Paper Smooches' Feathers dies. For the sentiment, I chose a simple "thank you" from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments stamp set.

Time to join in at CAS(E) this Sketch!

Here's my card

I pulled out my Paper Smooches' Healthy Vibes stamp set. It's such a cute stamp set and I hadn't used it .... yet. I stamped the "germ" image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers G05, YG09. I fussy cut the image and applied Glossy Accents to the eyes. For the sentiment panel, I used a Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 8 die from white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. For the background, I used a light green cardstock and embossed with Sizzix Texture Fades Bubble embossing folder.

Penny Black and More: June Challenge

I'm loving being home. It's giving me opportunities to sit at my craft table and get "inky". I found this new-to-me challenge at Penny Black and More where the current challenge is

****** FAVORITE STAMPS ******

Here's my card

It was so nice to dig out some Penny Black stamp sets to make this card. I started making a 3.5" circle mask using Sizzix circle dies. With the mask in place on a white A2 card base, I stamped using Penny Black's Flower Sparks stamp set. I stamped the one stamp using Hero Arts Fresh Peach, Butter Bar and Soft Sky inks. I added antique linen distress ink to the edges of the circle. I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment from Penny Black's Salutations stamp set to complete my one layer card.

Just Us Girls Challenge #541

The current challenge at Just Us Girls is a color challenge.

Here's my card

I really like this color combination. I'm going to use it in future cards. For my card, I dusted off my Stampin' Up Flower Power stamp set. I stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto turquoise cardstock. I then dusted off my Stampin' Up Pansy Punch to punch out the flowers. I took a 1.75" x 4.25" kraft strip and embossed it with Cuttlebug's Chicken Wire embossing folder. The sentiment from Ink Blot Shop's Botanical Borders was stamped onto a scrap of light turquoise cardstockI popped the middle flower up with dimensionals and added an adhesive rhinestone to the center of each flower.

My style is definitely Clean and Simple and I love making one layer cards. Here's my card

I started by stamping this adorable dragonfly from Your Next Stamp's Bitty Bugs stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers B02, Y15, YG06. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. With a thin black marker, I drew the frame.

My Favorite Things ~ Wednesday Sketch Challenge #494

I was searching the internet for card sketch challenges and found this one at My Favorite Things. Here is the current sketch

Here's my card

I love MFT's Seaside Seagulls and it's not just because of the movie Finding Dora - although that does make me laugh! I stamped these two friends with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers E25, E47, Y38, YR04, W2, W3. I fussy cut out the two seagulls. I dusted off my Creative Memories' oval custom cutting system to cut the oval from white cardstock. For the waves, I used Hero Arts' Mermaid Sea Waves stencil and distress inks (cracked pistachio, peacock feathers) applied with ink daubers. For the sky, I added tumbled glass above the waves. To add the illusion of clouds, I used Simon Says STAMP's Clouds for Days stencil with salty ocean distress ink applied with an ink blending tool. I found a scrap of teal cardstock for the sentiment, from the same stamp set.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday: Challenge #462

There is a wonderful sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday for this week's challenge

I was inspired. Here's my card

I started with STAMPlorations' Party Mates stamp set and a 2.5" x 4" piece of white cardstock. I stamped various birthday icons randomly with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then added color with distress inks (evergreen bough, cracked pistachio, shaded lilac). I found some green/teal cardstock and embossed it with Provo Craft's D'Vine Swirls embossing folder. I trimmed this piece to 2.25" x 5". I intentionally adhered it "upside down". Here's a close-up.

I found a scrap of darker green cardstock and stamped the sentiment from STAMPlorations' Birthday Bash sentiment and cut it into a fish tail banner.

Inspire. Create. Challenge #071

I was looking around for new-to-me card challenges and I found one, Inspire. Create. Stamping Challenges. Their current challenge is a sketch challenge and I love sketch challenges!

Here's my card

I started with the camera stamp from STAMPlorations' Hello You stamp set. I stamped it randomly on a 3.75" x 3.75" white cardstock panel. I added color, also randomly using distress inks (fossilized amber, candied apple, ripe persimmon) using an ink blending tool. I matted the panel with black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set onto a scrap of yellow cardstock. I wrapped some baker's twine around the panel and tied a knot. I adhered everything to an A2 white card base.

Just Us Girls Challenge #540

I find that crafting makes my heart happy. I'm joining the current challenge at Just Us Girls

Here's my card

I think that this is one of my favorite card designs. To start, on a white A2 card base, I made light pencil marks to show where the frame will be. I stamped flowers and leaves using stamps from Hero Arts Spring Hello by Lia and Garden Flowers by Lia with Hero Arts inks - Butter Bar, Dusty Blue, Fresh Peach, Green Hills, Sea Glass, Soft Cantaloupe inside those pencil marks. I erased the pencil marks and with a thin black marker, drew the frame around the flowers. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP's Thanks stamp set.

Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge

So what do you do, when you're planning on going to bed in 30 minutes but are super inspired by a card challenge? Well, stay up and make the card - right? It's the current challenge at Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge

SOMETHING METALLIC

I love the faux textured metallic paper technique by Jennifer McGuire. Here's my card

I started by masking the edges of the A2 card panel with post-it tape. I added distress inks (evergreen bough, cracked pistachio, shaded lilac) with an oval make-up brush. I then brushed on perfect pearls with a dry brush. I carefully removed the post-it tape and used a We R Memory Keepers Next Level 3D Embossing folder - Geometric to emboss the panel. For the sentiment, I used some shiny silver cardstock and Simon Says STAMP's Script Thanks die.

Here's a close-up

I started this card with the cute chameleon using Craftin' Desert Divas Chameleon stamp set. I stamped it using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers BG05, Y15, YR04. On this rainy day, when I saw the current challenge at CAS on Friday, I knew that I had to join.

SUNSHINE

Here's my card

I started with Reverse Confetti's Sun 'n Clouds Confetti cuts die set. I created a sun mask with the sun die. With the mask, I added color with distress ink (squeezed lemonade, mustard seed) applied with an ink blending tool. I added the sentiment from Technique Tuesday's Bring on the Sun stamp set using Hero Arts Charcoal ink. I added the smiley face using The Alley Way's Neener Neener stamp set. I added glossy accents to the sunglasses to add a bit of shine. I trimmed the panel slightly so that I could add a thin dark gray mat.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #341

I was intrigued by the sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments

Here's my card

I stamped the flower using Altenew's Hello Sunshine stamp set four times using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers B95, V06, YG06, YR04. I chose the colors based on a scrap of striped patterned paper from my stash. I then fussy cut the flowers. The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp's Whatnot Sentiments Four stamp set. I used Stampin' Up's oval punch to punch out the sentiment. When adhering the sentiment oval, I popped it up with dimensionals.

CAS(E) this Sketch! #376

I enjoy having time to be creative at my craft table. I have a card for the challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch

Here's my card

For this card, I started with a 2" circle mask. I added tumbled glass distress ink to the entire 2" circle. I then used Simon Says STAMP's Cloud for Days stencil with salty ocean distress ink to add a cloud background. I may have gotten a bit carried away because I just love fluffy clouds! I die cut the branch using Memory Box's Woodland Branch die and dark brown cardstock. I stamped the little bird on a scrap of cardstock using The Alley Way's Trees Company using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers Y15, Y37. I fussy cut the body and wings of the bird. I stamped the bird with his/her legs on the die cut branch. I then adhered the fussy cut image of the bird. I knew that I wouldn't be able to fussy cut the bird's thin legs, so this was my work-around. For the sentiment, I used Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental stamp set.

I'm loving having time to craft. I found the current challenge at Tic Tac Toe Challenge, one that I just had to join.

Here's my card

I chose the center column - sponge/brush, sunset, single/layer for my card. I made a 2" circle mask for my card. On a white A2 card base, I positioned the 2" circle mask with post-it tape. I added color with distress ink - mustard seed, spiced marmalade, picked raspberry, seedless preserves from bottom to top with an ink blending tool. I added some silhouettes with Technique Tuesday's Wildflowers with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I carefully removed the mask. I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Coloring Layering Tiger Lily stamp set.

STAMPlorations CAS ~ Reminder Post for June

Have you joined us yet at STAMPlorations CAS for this month's challenge? There is still time.

Here's my card

It's another STAMPlorations ARTplorations stencil card. I love using stencils - they are easy to use and the artistic "work" has been done by the stencil designers, I just have to add color. I chose to use ARTplorations' Art Flowers 1 stencil with distress inks (shaded lilac, wilted violet, peeled paint). I only added color to part of the stencil - I was able to use scrap paper to keep the color where I wanted it. I added a light purple die cut for the sentiment using STAMPlorations CUTplorations' Life is Good die.

Perfectly CAS ~ June Challenge

It's time for a new challenge at Perfectly CAS where for the purposes of our challenges, only up to one-third of a card front can be "decorated". Our challenge this month is

Here's my card

When I saw the theme this month, I pulled out some white glitter cardstock. I went through my dies to find out that I could use. I chose Memory Box's Cherish border. I thought that the white glitter would look best against black cardstock. I carefully adhered all the little pieces using the negative of the die cut to help with placement. Here's a close-up.

I chose to use a light gray A2 cardstock panel for the background. For the sentiment, I used WPlus 9's Sparkle and Shine stamp set and Hero Arts Soft Granite ink. I added a few small adhesive rhinestones to add a bit more sparkle.

CASology ~ Week 370

I'm enjoying having time to spend at my craft table. I've had time to join in at CASology where the cue card is

Here's my card

So, I took the term "father" more broadly to include our heavenly "father". In these days of pandemic and racial tension, I find myself longing for hope, guidance and stability. I used Stampin' Up's Crosses of Hope and stamped the cross with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers RV23 and G82. I fussy cut the cross and adhered it to a white A2 card base. If I had planned my card, I would have made it a one-layer card. However, I wasn't really sure where I was going to end up when I started. Does that ever happen to you? To complete my card, I used a sentiment from Close to My Heart's Big Hug stamp set. I felt like it was appropriate.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #167

There is another great challenge at AAA Cards

Here's the graphic

Here's my card

I hope that it's obvious that I took the inspiration for my one layer card from the graphic. I used butterflies and incorporated similar wing coloring. For the butterflies, I used STAMPlorations' Grateful Flutters stamp set. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers C5, R05, Y38. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations' Trendy Butterflies 2 stamp set.
