Die Cut Divas ~ Recycle, Re-use & Repurpose with Art Impressions

Our challenge at Die Cut Divas for the month of September is 

RECYCLE, RE-USE & REPURPOSE

Sounds like a fun challenge, until you look around for things to incorporate on your card. Well, it was challenging for me. It might be easier for you.

For my card, I looked to see what I had in my recycle box. I had a box from Ziploc sandwich bags. I started with a piece about 4" square. I stamped the image using Art Impressions Special Window Set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then added color with distress inks (wilted violet, picked raspberry, mowed lawn, twisted citron, candied apple, peacock feathers, salty ocean, fossilized amber, gathered twigs, pine needles), a little water and a water brush. I wasn't sure this would work as all the colors turned a shade of brown. However, once the water evaporated, the colors were there. I used a My Favorite Things Stitched Square die to die cut the inked cardboard.

I die cut a scalloped square to mat the image element using a Crafters Companion Scallop Edge Square Frames die using some mauve cardstock. I found some patterned paper that I cut to 5 1/2" x 1 3/4". I glued the elements in place on a cream A2 card base to complete my card.

Here's my card

I've been working a lot. Unfortunately, that cuts into my crafty time. After work, I have very few active brain cells. So, I went really simple for this card. I used Birch Press Design's Meadow Berry Branch Contour Layers die. I die cut twice using white cardstock and glued the layers together. For the berries, I die cut them from red shiny cardstock for a bit of shine and a pop of color. The branch looked lost on a white A2 card base, so I die cut a large oval twice from white cardstock. I glued the layers together for some dimension and glued it to the white A2 card base. Then, I glued the branch to the oval. I was thinking of adding a sentiment. I couldn't find one that worked so I just left it without a sentiment.

Here's my card

For my card, I used Birch Press Design's Block Print Starry Night Scene die set. I used the  larger die to cut out an area around the center top area of a white A2 card panel and used a scrap of white cardstock to die cut the large tree. I added some color to the front tree with salvaged patina distress ink applied with a mini oval ink blending brush. On a white A2 card base, I lightly marked where the opening of the die cut piece would be and erased the marks. I expanded that area slightly and lightly ink blended the opening with salvage patina distress ink with a larger oval ink blending brush. I stamped the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages and PinkFresh Studio's Ocean Breeze ink. I adhered the panel to the cardbase with double-sided tape and glued the tree ink place to finish my card.

It's so hot here that it's nice to think about Christmas when it's cooler outside. Of course, the days are shorter but I wouldn't be so uncomfortably hot.

Here's my card

For my card, I used Waffle Flower's Birdie Friends in Winter stencil with lots of distress inks - mustard seed, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, abandoned coral, aged mahogany, black soot, wilted violet, dusty concord, salty ocean, blueprint sketch, gathered twigs applied with oval ink blending brushes. I used the coordinating die set to die cut the birds and the branch they're perched on. I chose to adhere the elements to a light blue A2 card base. For the sentiment, I used a retired Waffle Flower set called Fa-la-la and silver embossing powder. To finish off my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

One way to combat the heat of summer is to think cool, or maybe cold or maybe Christmas (at least for those up north in the Northern Hemisphere. Our challenge for July at Die Cut Divas is

Here's my card

For this card, I used a retired Waffle Flower stamp set called Fa-La-La. I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Ohuhu markers BG038, BG042, E280, G191, G284, R192, WG150 and Copic markers C2, E40, N2, R29. I then fussy cut the image. I felt that I need a bit of a background so I die cut a large oval with an oval die and added clouds with a cloud stencil and tumbled glass distress ink applied with an oval ink blending brush. I also heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set with gold embossing powder. I glued the oval and the singing sheep in place on a light blue A2 card panel. To finish my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Here's my second card for June

 

For my card, I used Gina K Design's Beautiful Day stamp set and Gina K Design's Beautiful Pattern stamp set which I received as part of Scrapbook and Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered September 2024 event kit. In my MISTI, I inked the flowers and buds with PinkFresh Studio's Passion Fruit ink. I inked up one of the patterns with the second stamp set with PinkFresh Studio's Coral Reef on an acrylic block. I tapped the inked floral stamp with the inked pattern stamp and then stamped onto white cardstock. It's a great way to add some interest and variation to a solid stamped image. I inked up the leaves and stem stamp with PinkFresh Studio's Aquamarine ink. I used a Waffle Flower A2 layers die to trim the focal panel. I matted with a medium gray, die cut with a Waffle Flower Additionals A2 Layers die. I glued the two panels together. I stamped using the Beautiful Day stamp and Gina K Design's soft stone ink on a white A2 card base for the sentiment. I adhered the focal panel to the white card base with double-sided tape to complete my card.

Here's my first card for June

For my card, I used Kristina Werner with Concord & 9th's Daphne's Flowers Inlay dies. I die cut the outline and all the little pieces using white cardstock. I added color to all the little pieces with Ohuhu markers G191, R192, V189, Y494 and Copic marker YG63. I glued the outline and inlayed all the little pieces onto a gray A2 card panel. For the sentiment, I used Your Next Stamp's Cool Tag Banner Sentiments stamp set and a scrap of light pink cardstock. I trimmed it to a sentiment strip and glued it in place. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with PoppyStamps' Birthday Penguin dies. Using some scraps of cardstock, I die cut the pieces of the birthday penguin and glued the pieces of the little penguin wearing a birthday hat together. I felt that I needed to add something behind the penguin to separate it from a white A2 cardbase. I die cut a circle using a circle die. For the sentiment, I used another scrap of cardstock, the same one I used for his hat, and stamped the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental stamp set. I die cut the sentiment out using a My Favorite Things' Skinny Strips die. I glued the elements in place to complete my card.

CELEBRATIONS

Here's my card, celebrating a birthday!

For my card, I used a retired PoppyStamps die called Flock of Birds. There are several other bird dies currently on sale at PoppyStamps. i die cut the five birds using white cardstock and added color with a small ink blending brush and distress inks - wilted violet, cracked pistachio and mermaid lagoon. Using an adhesive mat, helped to minimize the ink that I got on my fingers - LOL!. I glued the die cuts to create these five birds. For the sentiment, I used a scrap of 100 lb bristol and ink smooshed the same three distress inks onto it. After drying, I die cut the sentiment using the retired PoppyStamps' Happy Birthday Poe Script die. I used a circle cut from purple cardstock to help make the birds and sentiment stand out. I adhered the elements and then adhered the circle to a light gray A2 card panel. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

ANNIVERSARY OR BIRTHDAY CARD

Here's my card

For my card, I started with Altenew's Bold Bouquet Outline stamp set, 3D embossing folder, stencils and die set which I received as part of the event kit of Scrapbook and Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered March 2023. I stamped the image and added color with PinkFresh Studio's Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, Berrylicious, Mint, Meadow inks and mini ink blending brushes. I stamped the image panel with an oval die. I glued the panel to a medium gray A2 panel. I stamped the "happy" sentiment on a scrap of medium gray and die cut it. I stamped the word "anniversary" onto the panel and glued the word "happy" in place. To complete the card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

ANNIVERSARY OR BIRTHDAY CARD

For my card, I used Altenew products that I received as part of Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered  Spring 2023 event kit. I received Altenew's Floral Laurel stencil, die set, stamp set and 3D embossing folder. I started by stamping the floral swag using the stamp on white cardstock. I added color with the coordinating stencils and PinkFresh Studio's inks - coral reef, passion fruit, berrylicious, sky blue, summer shower, slumber, ocean breeze, mint and meadow, applied with mini oval ink blending brushes. I die cut the floral swag with the coordinating die. I embossed a white A2 card panel with the Floral Laurel 3D embossing folder and then die cut a 2" circle using a Sizzix circle die, from it. I created a little shaker using acetate, some sequins, foam tape and a white A2 card base. I glued the floral swag to the right. For the sentiment, I used Altenew's Soacahtoa stamp set and some scrap light pink cardstock. I cut the scrap into a rectangle and glued it in place to complete my card.

Here's my spring-inspired card.

I feel that Spring is synonymous with flowers. After a long, rainy winter here in the Pacific Northwest, the appearance of flowers signals that Spring has arrived. For my card, I used Gina K Designs' Fancy Florals Layering Stencils and coordinating die set, Fancy Phrases Stamp set and coordinating Die set. I received these products as part of the Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2023 event kit. I used distress inks - picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, cracked pistachio, evergreen bough applied with oval ink blending brushes and the layering stencils. I die cut the floral bough using the coordinating die. For the sentiment, I stamped it using stamp set and die cut the sentiment. To complete my card, I used a white A2 card base and adhered a light gray stitched rectangle to the center. I glued the floral bough and sentiment in place as a final step.

Here's my spring-inspired card.

I love that spring brings us flowers. It's so wonderful to see colors instead of the drab, gray, rainy days here in the Pacific Northwest. For my card, I used Gina K Design's Hand-Picked Flowers die set, stamp set and stencil set which I received as part of Scrapbook and Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered Spring 2025 event kit. I stamped the image and added color with the stencils and distress inks - picked raspberry, salty ocean, dusty concord and cracked pistachio applied with oval ink blending brushes. I then die cut the image with the coordinating die. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set and then die cut it with the coordinating die. I found some patterned paper that worked with the image and cut it to A2 size. I glued the image and sentiment in place. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Here's my card

I used Hero Arts supplies that I received as part of Scrapbook & Cards' Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2025 event kit. I used the Hero Arts Autumn Splendor Color Layering stencils with PinkFresh Studio's sparkling rose, Concord & 9th's pink lemonade and dove, Hero Arts red royal and pale tomato and frayed burlap and old paper distress inks. I trimmed the panel and matted with an A2 pink cardstock panel. I die cut the "you" word from the same pink cardstock and the shadow from vellum using Hero Arts You are the Best Stamp & Cut. I stamped the "are amazing" from the same stamp set and again matted with pink. I assembled the elements and adhered them in place to complete my card.
