Happy Little Stampers CAS September 2015 Challenge

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at Happy Little Stampers

I chose one stamp from Penny Black's Dahlia stamp set to ink with versamark onto watercolour paper. I heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder. I used a few Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush to add colour to the image. I'm really liking these markers because they are so easy to use and make my watercolours turn out!

Time Out Challenge #40 - CASE Tracey

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at Time Out Challenges

This card by Tracey serves as inspiration. The challenge is to CASE Tracey's card and add one's own twist.

I used this SU Secret Garden stamp set to stamp with versamark on vellum. I added white heat embossing powder, heat set the embossing powder and fussy cut the flower. My little twist to Tracey's card was that I added colour to the back side of the vellum flower - the same colours as I added to the card base - distress inks - squeezed lemonade, picked raspberry and salty ocean.

I added a sentiment in script from this Penny Black stamp set.

Ellen Hutson CLASSroom: Pin-Sights Challenge

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at Ellen Hutson CLASSroom

Here's the inspiration - so much to choose from

A44fe23ae25cec75fa1751d68a994d19
I chose some of the colours. I used distress inks to add colour to watercolour paper. For each flower and the leaves. I blended two colours - ripe persimmon/fired brick; squeezed lemonade/mustard seed; faded jeans/chipped sapphire; mustard seed/crushed olive. I then die cut the flowers and leaves from this Ellen Hutson set.

Muse Card Challenge #134

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at Muse Card Club

The Muse is Anita's card

I looked around my craft room for a stamp to mimic Anita's circles. I was planning on heat embossing so the thought of stamping repeated individual circles didn't appeal to me. I settled on this Hero Arts stamp.

Here's a close-up

I used diluted distress inks (spun sugar, shabby shutters and salty ocean) to colour in random sections. The chose two of the colours that Anita used. I don't have (yet) cracked pistachio so it was replaced with shabby shutters. I used silver thread to make a small "nest", like Anita. I chose to use the Simon Says STAMP thanks die instead of a hello sentiment, as I have more use for a thanks card than a hello card.

CAS(E) this Sketch #141!

Here's my sketch
It's for the current challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch

I used this SU maple leaf stamp, inked with Pumpkin Pie and some Poppy Parade added to the edges to give the leaf a bit more dimension. The leaves were something I had cut out and inked with distress inks for a project I never completed! The Thanks die cut is by Simon Says STAMP. I added a few sequins, well because, I felt that the card needed a bit of sparkle!

One Layer Simplicity Challenge #20 - What's Your Number?

Here's my card

It's for the current challenge at One Layer Simplicity Challenge

OLS 20 - What's Your Number?

This was a difficult challenge for me. I had to go through all my stamps and couldn't find any "numbers". I was going to use a CAS-ual Friday stamp set with music notes - you know, eighth notes. Then I was flipping through my stamps again and found this one from Paper Smooches.

The balloons are from this Paper Smooches stamp set
I inked each balloon with one colour and gently applied a second colour around the edges to add some dimension to the balloons. I hand-drew the strings to go "behind" the sentiment.

Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at Simon Says STAMP

This week the challenge is

DIE CRAZY

you must use at least one die cut on your creation. If you don’t have any dies then you can used punched shapes.
We are showcasing W PLUS 9 PRODUCTS this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used

For my card, I used this WPlus9 die set - I cut out one flower from black cardstock
adhered it to a watercolour panel from my stash (I had used Distress Inks - Squeezed Lemonade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry).

The die cut sentiment is from this MFT die-namics set

I added a bit of sparkle with a Wink of Stella pen to both die cuts which are adhered to the watercolour panel. I also added a few sequins, well .... because I could! LOL.

Friday Mashup FM226

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at The Friday Mashup!

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with the Sketch.
  • Create a project with Inlaid Die Cutting.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project with the Sketch and inlaid die cutting.
I tried to Mash it Up! and my project incorporates both the sketch and inlaid die cutting. I have to say that I hadn't heard of inlaid die cutting. The video linked on the Friday Mashup website did a great job of demonstrating the technique.

I used this Paper Smooches die set to cut out the balloons.

I found some complementary scraps of paper to use as the top and bottom borders and the banners. I stamped the sentiment and added the balloon strings by hand.

Muse Card Club - Challenge #132

Here's my card
It's for the current challenge at Muse Card Club

The muse is by Michele Ferguson

Here is Michele's 'recipe' for your cards this week:

  • Patterned paper - any colors
  • stamped, die cut, and embossed image
  • with a sentiment on a tag!
So, I'm no where as bold as Michele as my patterned paper is much more subtle and only one colour on the background colour! I stamped and heat embossed the flower. It didn't come with a die so I fussy cut it and coloured the reverse side with copics. I wasn't happy with how the centre of the flower turned out, so I lightly stamped the centre of the flower on white, fussy cut it and adhered it to the back of the flower - much better!

The sentiment is from this MFT stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment and cut out a tag.

I just purchased a new camera and clearly, I need to read the manual!

Here's the inspiration photo:

I was inspired by the colours and the hexagonal shape.

I used the hexagon from this Paper Smooches stamp set with ink in colours as close to the colours in the inspiration photo as I had.

The sentiment is from this Paper Smooches stamp set.

NBUS Challenge #5

Here's my card

It's for the current challenge at djkardkreations

Darnell has this challenge to use "never before used schtuff" because we all have some - right?

I went through my SU stamp sets and found this one that I had never used. Inked up the swing with Memento Tuxedo black ink and added colour with Copics.

Back in the day, I.had.to.have.these rub-on tapes. I had to hunt for them - I knew that I still had them. Fortunately, I found them and was a bit concerned that maybe they wouldn't "stick". It had been awhile. I'll admit - it would be easier to add dash lines with a pen! However, at the time, I.had.to.have.them!

Ellen Hutson CLASSroom and A Blog Named Hero Challenges

Here's my card

It's for the current challenge at Ellen Hutson the CLASSroom

MIX-IT-UP Challenge -  to qualify, simply combine any Essentials by Ellen product AND Impression Obsession product.

Also, it's for the current challenge at A Blog Named Hero

I used this Ellen Hutson stamp set for the sentiment

and this Ellen Hutson die set for the flowers and leaves. I added some Wink of Stella to the flower outlines for a bit of sparkle.

For the background, I used this Impression Obsession Thin Stripes stamp.

I realize that it's a bit of a stretch. My sentiment includes the word "happy" so that's why I've included it with the A Blog Named Hero happy challenge.

Muse Challenge #132

Here's my card

It's for the current challenge at Muse Card Club

This week's Muse is created by Joan Bardee

I was inspired by the multiple related sentiments and the polka dot patterned paper.

I have not had much success stamping multiple sentiments on a card. Inevitably, the last sentiment, either doesn't stamp properly or more likely, I end up with extra ink somewhere on the card! Yes, I should figure out how to use my Misti ... one day!

I found this stamp on my shelf. I'm not sure where I bought it or which company made this cling stamp. I used distress markers to add ink to the stamp. Since this was a Happy Birthday card, I looked for some multicoloured polka dot paper which of course, I couldn't immediately locate in my craft stash - quit laughing! I found this paper which used a repeated geometric pattern of multicolour intersecting circles. I couldn't find a piece of ribbon that would work, so instead made a paper banner.

Thank you, Joan for the fun Muse card to inspire me.
