Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge

Welcome 2022! Happy New Year friends!

To start off 2022, there is a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge. Our challenge is always

Here's my card

For my card, I started with an A2 panel of watercolour paper. I used a flower stamp from Altenew's Adore You stamp set. Using an acrylic block, I inked up the stamp with distress inks - mustard seed, carved pumpkin, picked raspberry and lightly spritzed the stamp with water before applying the stamp to the watercolour panel. I repeated the process several times, altering the orientation of the stamp, until most of the panel was covered. I didn't really want to cover up the flowers, so I decided to use vellum for the sentiment. I heat embossed with gold embossing powder the sentiment, using Simon Says STAMP's Big Scripty Greetings onto a strip of vellum. I adhered this strip to complete my card.

We'd love to see your watercolour or faux watercolour creations.

Die Cut Divas ~ Saying Goodbye to 2021

It's the last day of our December Challenge

WINTER/CHRISTMAS PROJECT
optional twist: shaped winter/Christmas project

This month our sponsor is Frantic Stamper which is a great place to stock up on crafting supplies.

Here's my card

I've been wanting to make a card where I incorporate the Northern Lights into the design. One day, I hope to travel north to see the Northern Lights in person. I started with a white A2 card panel. I stamped the snowy hills and trees using Sunny Studio's Scenic Route stamp set, available at our sponsor, Frantic Stamper and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I also made a mask, by stamping the same image on a large post-it note, which I fussy cut out. I placed the mask in place and added color with distress inks (fossilized amber, aged mahogany, seedless preserves, mowed lawn, salty ocean) and ink blending tools, applied in a flicking upward motion. To add the "night sky", I applied black soot distress ink, mostly along the edges of the "sky". I trimmed the panel using a Waffle Flower's A2 layers' die. Using the same die set, I die cut a white panel, one size larger and a black panel, one size larger than the previous. For the sentiment, I stamped the words from the same stamp set onto some dark green cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I trimmed the words and adhered them onto the main panel.

Wishing you a very happy 2022!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge ~ Challenge #453

Oops - missed posting on Monday! I have an excuse. I arrived home after being away for a month at 2:30, early Monday morning. The plane actually landed about 12:30 am (about an hour late) and I was selected for a random COVID test. I preferred to just wait in line for the test rather than using a take home testing kit. I just wanted to get it over with. Although we were told that results were taking up to 72 hours, I received my negative test result in about 20 hours. Phew!

OK - enough about me. It's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch

Here's my card

I love snowmen and snowladies! For this card, I used this snowman stamp from The Alley Way's Chill Out stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers - BG10, BG23, C2, C5, YR16. I trimmed the panel to 1.75" x 3" and matted with dark gray cardstock. The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up's Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack. For the sentiment, I used Stampin' Up's Snow Much Fun's stamp set and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by this week's sketch.

Perfectly CAS ~ December Challenge

Welcome to our last challenge for 2021 at Perfectly CAS. This month, our challenge is

Here's my card

I love rainbow colored clouds. Now, I realize that they only exist in my imagination. I find something so fun about them. They are much more interesting than boring white/gray clouds, don't you think? I started with a white A2 card panel and a STAMPlorations ARTplorations Square Flexi-Template stencil to mask the edges of the panel, leaving the central square open for inking. I love the flexi-template stencils. I no longer have to use Post-it Tape to mask my panel. I used bits of washi tape to hold the square flexi-template stencil in place. I then used STAMPlorations ARTplorations Clouds stencil to add color with distress inks - mustard seed, carved pumpkin, picked raspberry, salty ocean, peacock feathers, cracked pistachio, mowed lawn, applied with an ink blending tool.  I moved the stencil slightly after applying each band of color. I felt the sky needed something more so I stamped these birds using STAMPlorations Trendy Birds 2 stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. For the sentiment, I used a clear sticker from STAMPlorations CRAFTplorations New Day clear sticker pack. Unfortunately, for me, I didn't apply the sticker straight. So, so much for my one layer card, I adhered another sticker to a scrap of yellow cardstock, which I trimmed down and then adhered over my "oopsie".

We'd love to see you sea &/or sky inspired cards. Please remember to cover less than 1/3 of your card panel. After all, we are "Perfectly CAS"!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #451

It's another Monday and time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here is this week's sketch that I hope will inspire you

I was inspired by the poinsettia in this week's sketch. Here's my card

For a change, I searched for the patterned papers first! I was happy with this striped and polka dot pairing. I used Simon Says STAMP's Poinsettia stamp set, which I stamped on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped one flower and six leaves. I used Copic markers to add color to match the patterned papers - E08, G85, R05, Y15, YG63 and fussy cut the images. I stamped the three MERRY sentiments using Simon Says STAMP's Chunky Christmas on a 3" x 3.75" piece of kraft cardstock. Using a MISTI to stamp the three words definitely helped. I stamped the first word and then moved the panel 0.25" and then re-stamped. I did this one more time. Having the MISTI made it possible to line the MERRY up and have the words equi-distanced from each other. I arranged and then adhered the cut outs to the same piece of kraft cardstock. I stamped the CHRISTMAS onto a scrap of green cardstock from the same stamp set and used a Photoplay Sentiment Strips Etched die to die cut the word before adhering it below the three MERRY words. Lastly, I adhered the pieces to a white A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see how you are inspired by this week's sketch.

Die Cut Divas ~ Merry Christmas Circle Card

There is a new challenge at Die Cut Divas for the month of December

WINTER/CHRISTMAS PROJECT
optional twist: shaped winter/Christmas project

This month our sponsor is Frantic Stamper which is a great place to stock up on crafting supplies.

Here's my card

For my card, I used Penny Black's Peaceful Wishes die, which is available at Frantic Stamper - here. I die cut the dove using white shimmer cardstock. I made the card by starting with a white A2 card base and then die cutting with My Favorite Things Stitched Circle STAX dies, ensuring that a small part of the circle extended beyond the fold. For the background, I ink blended using faded jeans and chipped sapphire distress inks. I also splattered some Perfect Pearls by placing some perfect pearls powder on an acrylic block. I added some water and then flicked the perfect pearls solution with a paint brush, directed towards the ink blended panel. I adhered the dove to the ink blending panel. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Chunky Christmas stamp set. I heat embossed with silver embossing powder on black cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment strips and adhered them to the card panel to complete my card.

We'd love to see your winter/Christmas projects. Please don't forget to use at least one die cut, since we are Die Cut Divas!

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #420

Are you getting the Christmas spirit? I love listening to Christmas carols - both the "old-fashioned" ones and the current ones. There is something special about sitting at my craft table listening to Christmas carols. In fact, I may have snuck a few onto my playlist and listen to them year round!

We have a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Here's my card

OK - how about a non-traditional Christmas colored Christmas tree - why not? For this card, I started with STAMPlorations ARTplorations Christmas trees stencil and a white A2 card panel. I added distress inks in rainbow order with an ink blending tool. I did mask the areas where the color was to go using scrap paper, in order to have "ribbons" of color. I used distress inks - barn door, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn, peacock feathers, salty ocean, seedless preserves. I added a simple sentiment using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I trimmed the panel slightly and matted with a bright blue A2 card panel. I adhered it to a white A2 card base to complete the card.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday ~ Challenge #536

Hi Crafty Friends! Welcome to our last challenge of 2021 at Try Stampin' On Tuesday. We have a sketch challenge for you

Here's my card

When I saw the stripes on the sketch, I thought of watercolored stripes. So I started with an A2 panel of 140 lb Strathmore watercolor paper. I chose a bright blue shade using Michael's Artist's Loft Watercolor Pan Set and made three bold stripes. To make the tag, I started with a just under 2" wide by 3.5" piece of natural cardstock. I used Stampin' Up's Ornate Tag Topper punch to make the top of the tag. I looked through my collection of patterned papers for something that had the same bright blue color and cut a piece 1.75" x 2.75" and adhered it to the tag. For the sentiment strip, I stamped using Your Next Stamp's Sweet Little Greetings stamp set and Hero Arts Summer Sky ink on a 0.75" natural strip. I stapled (I think for the first time on one of my cards) a piece of black grosgrain ribbon to the top of the tag. I adhred the watercolor panel to a white A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by this week's sketch. This challenge will last a bit longer than usual to give us a bit of a Christmas break.

Happy Little Stampers ~ December Stencil Challenge

Who loves crafting with stencils? I do! I love that they are affordable and are easy to use. It's so easy to change the look just with the colors you choose. Well, time to get out some stencils because we have a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Stencil Challenge

Here's my card

I love how bright and cheerful this card is - especially welcomed here in the rainy Pacific Northwest! For this card, I started with Simon Says STAMP's Winter Floral stencil and a white A2 card panel. I added ink, in rainbow order with an ink blending tool. I used distress inks - barn door, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn, peacock feathers, salty ocean, seedless preserves. I wanted to add a sentiment but didn't want to cover up all the color. So, I decided to use a vellum strip to "hold" my sentiment which was die cut using Simon Says STAMP's Deco Tree die set and silver cardstock.

Hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas. If you have time, we'd love for you to join our challenge.

Happy Little Stampers ~ December Christmas Challenge

It's three weeks today that the big guy comes in his sleigh. How are your Christmas preparations coming along. Hoping you have some time to spend at your craft desk. We'd love for you to join our new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Christmas Challenge

Here's my card

I'm pleased with myself. I made a card that followed the optional theme of toys. I remember being so excited receiving toys for Christmas. Clothing? Not so much - LOL! For this card, I used Lawn Fawn's Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-Pum stamp set. For the background, I started with a green A2 card panel. I stamped the various images using Versamark ink. Versamark gives a lovely tone-on-tone look. For the horizontal banner, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set on a strip of natural cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I stamped the little bear on a scrap of white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copics - E25, E33, E50. I attached the strip to the green panel and then adhered the green panel to a white A2 card base.

We'd love to see your Christmas cards - with or without toys!

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ December Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends! It's exciting for the last challenge of 2021 at Rainbow Card Challenge. However, it's a sad day also because it's our last challenge. After this challenge, we will stop posting challenges. Our challenge for this month is

Here's my card

I was inspired by Virginia Lu and her card below. Of course, I had to order the Altenew Mid-Century Festivities stamp and die set.

I stamped the two different ornaments with Hero Arts inks - Cornflower, Pale Tomato, Tide Pool, Lemon Yellow, Tangerine, Bubble Gum and Simon Says STAMP's Fern ink and die cut them. For the tops of the ornaments, I heat embossed with silver embossing powder and fussy cut them. I adhered one to each of the ornaments. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink on a white A2 card panel. I arranged the ornaments on the card panel and drew a string to each of the ornaments with a fine black marker. I adhered the ornaments and popped up a few for dimension. To complete the card like Virginia, I added some sequins to add a bit of shine and sparkle.

We'd love for you to join our last challenge.

Phew! Made it to December. It's been quite the interesting year, eh? Last year at this time, I would have thought the pandemic would be over but oh no, we're still in the middle of it. Anyway, being an introvert, I'm enjoying all the quiet time at home at my craft table. I guess, I just wish I could travel.

Talking about crafting, we have a new challenge at STAMPlorations CAS. This month, the challenge will be

Here's my card

This card was a bit of an experiment to do the optional color twist - to use metallics and a color (black) and I think that it turned out fine. I started with STAMPlorations ARTplorations Christmas Trees stencil and a black A2 card panel. I smeared on Tombow Mono Multi Glue through the stencil with my finger. I removed the stencil and quickly washed off the glue. I then covered the tacky glue area with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes - Egyptian Gold. I covered the panel with copy paper to help to burnish the gilding flakes. For the sentiment, I heat embossed using STAMPlorations Christmas Bell Medley stamp set and silver embossing powder. I attached the black panel to a white A2 card panel to complete the card.

To check out all of the gorgeous STAMPlorations products, you can do that here. Also, please use my 20% off your purchase code STAMPGIRLSUE
