Ellen Hutson: the CLASSroom: PIN-SIGHTS Challenge

Here's my card

It's for the current challenge at Ellen Hutson - CLASSroom

Here is the inspiration photo

 2f4eb07cffa452394a3f521301a5a6a8

I was inspired by the colours, shine and textures in the photo panel.

I used this Ellen Hutson die set for the focal flower. I used some shiny teal cardstock for the flower, dark brown for the border and some orange/brown for the centre of the flower. I added some Glossy Accents on the small pieces in the centre of the flower to add some shine.

The sentiment is from this Ellen Hutson stamp set.

The base of the card has the texture of tree bark from using an embossing folder.

STAMPlorations November Challenge - Theme

I was inspired by the current them challenge at STAMPlorations

Here's my card

The theme is "stamps and newsprint".  I found a scrap piece of printed paper from Stampin Up. I found that the printing was too "strong" and felt that any stamping would be out-competed by the print. So, I took out some gesso (I bought it many months ago but was hesitant to give it a try, because it's messy!) and applied it with a make-up applicator to tone down the print. I let it dry and then stamped on top with this STAMPlorations stamp set. I tore the newsprint paper to give it a worn look.

The sentiment is from this STAMPlorations stamp set

Thank you STAMPlorations for the nudge to try something new (gesso). Even if it was a bit messy, I think that I may try it again.

Papertrey Ink - Make It Monday #232

The current challenge at Papertrey Ink blog - Make it Monday highlights my favourite technique when using kraft cardstock.

Make It Monday #232: Layered Stamping on Kraft

Here is my card

I first inked up the stamps with white pigment ink and let the ink dry. Then I added the colour by stamping again, offsetting the stamping slightly - intentionally (LOL!) I used this PTI stamp set

The sentiment is from this PTI stamp set

I added a thin green mat and then adhered to the card.

Nacho Average Challeges #169

Here is my card

It's for the current challenge at Nacho Average

Here's the sketch

I rotated the sketch 90 degrees. When I looked at the sketch, it reminded me of a window. I have this Poppy window die

I just received this super cute stamp set from Create a Smile. I stamped the images with Versafine black onyx and coloured with copic markers.

The sentiment is from this Paper Smooches stamp set

Happy Little Stampers November Sketch Challenge

Here's my card

It's for the current challenge at Happy Little Stampers

Here's the sketch

I used this SU stamp set for the ornament

and the sentiment is from this Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval Holiday Magic stamp set

which I inked up with versamark, added gold embossing powder and heat set on red cardstock.

I used SU's ornate tag topper punch to create the tag.

I found some Christmas colour plaid paper (SU) which complemented the tag. I felt that it needed a bit more gold, so I added a thin mat behind the plaid paper. I felt that the tag should be slightly askew.

Muse Challenge #143

This week's Muse card at the Muse Challenge is this beauty by Tracey McNeely

Gorgeous, isn't it.

I was inspired by
  • the rectangular panel matted with a rather wide red border
  • gold heat embossing
  • "joy" sentiment on upper left
  • ornament with bow on lower right
Here's my card

I used this SU stamp set for the ornament which I stamped with Versamark ink, covered with gold embossing powder and heat set.

I used a ruler and black copic marker to add the ornament string. I added a bow (where one tail is nicely looping and the other is being a bit difficult and sticking straight out! - UGH)

The sentiment is from this Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval Holiday Magic box stamp set.

To complete the card, I trimmed the front panel down and added a red mat with a 1/2" border.

Less is More Week 251

The theme over at Less is More is

NUMBERS!

Here is my card

So, it's a bit of a stretch, I admit it.  My collection of stamps with numbers on them is extremely limited. For the few that I own, I couldn't think of a plan to create a CAS card.

I used this Paper Smooches stamp set - it's my "go to" set when I can't figure out what to do. I just love this set.

The sentiment is from this Stampin Up set

The Friday Mashup FM235

Here is the current challenge at The Friday Mashup!

 This week's Mashup Challenge:
  • Use the Sketch.
  • Create a project with a Thankful theme.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project using the Sketch and a Thankful theme.

Here's my card

I chose to "Mash it Up!" by incorporating the sketch with a thankful theme. For the top part of the panel, I used a stencil and applied distress ink with daubers (mustard seed, spiced marmalade and ripe persimmon). For the bottom part of the panel, I found a scrap of cardstock that matched one of the colours of the top panel and ran it through an embossing folder. I added the panels to a mat of black.

The sentiment is from this Simon Says STAMP set

CAS(E) this Sketch #150

Here is the sketch for CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #150

I had a few ideas - maybe Technique Tuesday's chickadees, MFT reindeer. I settled on the mid-sized flower from this Clearly Besotted stamp set.

Here's my card

I was challenged to accurately place the stamps. If I knew where my MISTI was (somewhere in my craft room), it would have been easier - LOL! However, I used a ruler and pencil to lineup the blooms.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

This sketch is so versatile. I think that I'll be using with various stamps and sentiments.

Papertrey Ink - November 2015 Blog Hop

I'm so excited.  I was actually organized enough to participate in Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop.  On top of that, I have the day off and plan to play in my craft room too.

Here is the inspiration for the challenge

 Blog Hop Inspiration

I was inspired by the colours and shine, as well as the spherical shape of the Christmas balls.

Here's my card

I used these Papertrey ink stamp sets. I masked off a rectangle to help me keep the circles in the shape of a Christmas tree.

I added some Wink of Stella onto the circles for a bit of sparkle. Here's a close-up.

Time Out Challenges #44

The challenge at TIME OUT Challenges this week is a CASE challenge.

Here is the card by Karen at Snippets

Here is my card

I masked off an area on the left side of the card front and used this Texture Rhapsody stencil by Memory Box and added my favourite distress ink - peacock feathers. I found a Unity stamp that was more than one line and used some script writing and placed it on the right, towards the bottom, overlapping the stenciled area.

Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge: Christmas

Here' is my card

It's for the current challenge at Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge

This week the challenge is…

CHRISTMAS!

Afterall, it’s beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS! Everywhere we go… (oh, just enjoy it! *wink* *wink*)
We are showcasing My Favorite Things Products this week.

I used this super cute stamp set from My Favorite Things - aren't the reindeer cute? I inked up the stamps with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and coloured the images with copics. I masked off near the bottom and lightly applied distress ink (pumice stone) - so it didn't seem like everything was floating, LOL!

I added the sentiment from Simon Says STAMP on red and added a bit of bling.

MFT Card Challenge: Wednesday Sketch Challenge #255

Here's my card

It's for the current sketch challenge at My Favorite Things

I used this MFT MIX-ables stencil and applied distress ink (tumbled glass, broken china and salty ocean) with daubers.

I cut the panel with this Die-namics set

I stamped a flower from this MFT stamp set; inking it completely with yellow and adding orange on the edges

To die cut this flower with the complementary Die-namics set, I found that it was the easiest to use the die on a post-it-note. Using the "outside" piece, I carefully positioned it around the stamped flower. I then put on the die, which fit inside the cut-out piece of post-it note (fit like a puzzle). I then used a piece of washi tape to hold the die in place and ran it through my BigShot.

The sentiment is from this MFT stamp set which I stamped on a piece of scrap orange cardstock.
