Die Cut Divas ~ Last Day of September Challenge

You know, I thought I'd have lots of time to do stuff, especially crafting, once I retired. Then, came offers to work for two weeks here, three weeks there. Sure, my bank account appreciates the increase in funds but I don't spend nearly enough time at my craft table. I need to make me and my crafting more of a priority next year!

Well, it's the end of another month and there are mere hours left of our current challenge at Die Cut Divas. This month, our sponsor is Cheapo Dies and they are offering our winner a $15 gift certificate.

Our challenge this month is an "All Kinds of Holidays Time".

Here's my card

I started by punching out triangles from different Christmas patterned papers using my Stampin' Up's Pennant Punch. This was actually the first time I had used it. I had recently tried to organize my punches by punching a 2.5" x 3.5" piece of cardstock. I then slid the 2.5" x 3.5" pieces into trading card pages which I store in a duotang folder. I came across this punch and thought I should probably try to use it (at least once!). I arranged the triangles onto an A2 white card panel and adhered them with tape runner. I added a small trunk with a scrap of brown cardstock. I then ran the panel using Sizzix/Stampin' Up's Square Lattice embossing folder through my Big Shot. Here's a close-up.

To complete the card, I die cut a small star using Lawn Fawn's Puffy Stars die set from a scrap of gold cardstock and I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Holiday Ornaments Stamp and Cut set. I made the sentiment into a 3D banner using Simon Says STAMP's Small Folded Banners die. I placed some dimensionals under the banner to help with the 3D effect.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #503

It's time for a new challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

Here's my card

When I was looking around for Sports stamp sets, who knew that I would find a lacrosse set? A co-worker of a friend of mine plays lacrosse. I was thinking of him as I made the card. The team he plays for wears a white or black jersey - pretty boring colors, if you ask me! I used Your Next Stamp's Sports Fanatics - Lacrosse stamp set. I stamped the image with Memento tuxedo black ink and added color with Copic markers B24, C2, E40, G07, R11. I used the colors of our local hockey team and the NFL team, down the road! I used a Sizzix circle die to die cut the panel and matted using My Favorite Things Stitched Circle STAX. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. i found some green patterned paper for the wide horizontal stripe.

We'd love to see what how you add sports to your project.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday ~ Challenge #476

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. Here's our sketch to inspire you to create

I have to admit that when I saw this sketch, all I could see was Mickey Mouse. Despite trying to come up with a different theme, I just couldn't resist. So, here's my card

I used Sizzix circle dies to die cut three black circles, two for ears and on for Mickey's head. I grabbed some of my Disney paper stash. I used Color Play - A Day at the Park Multi Stripe/Dot paper for the background and the sentiment uses Simple Stories Say Cheese 4 paper. I had to separate and trim the words to make them fit on my card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by this week's sketch challenge.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #387

Monday, Monday a song by the Mamas and Papas was released in 1966. Wait, what??? It doesn't seem that long ago. However, when you watch an old video and see their clothes, maybe it was that long ago. OK - I'm off-topic. Monday is the time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch to inspire you

Here's my card

I started by pulling out a cute 6x6 paper pack - Docrafts 6x6 spots and stripes pastels paper pack. I chose 5 different patterned papers and cut strips of varying widths. I used some printer paper cut to A2 size and adhered the strips to the printer paper. I then cut the printer paper, similar to the "check-mark" shape of the sketch. Instead of three "check-mark" shape strips, I moved the strips to verticals. I adhered my patterned paper strips to a light blue A2 card panel. For the sentiment, I stamped Thank You from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiment stamp set on a scrap of white cardstock. I used the Stampin' Up's oval punch to punch out the sentiment. I matted it with yellow, using Stampin' Up's scalloped oval punch.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #502 - Reminder Post

Just a reminder of the current challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

When I think about these colors - lime, pink, green, all I think about are flowers. So, it's flowers again this week. Here's my card

I used this cute image from Clearly Besotted's Scene It Flowers stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers - G07, R32, RV04, RV23, YG03. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I trimmed the panel and matted it on a lime A2 card panel.

Hope the colors "lime, pink and green" inspire you to create something.

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ Happy 80th Birthday Elena Blog Hop

When you find out your team mate at Rainbow Card Challenge is having a special birthday? Why you plan a special blog hop in her honor, of course.

Sue N  <<<< you're here
Elena (our birthday girl!)   - in case you'd like to leave her birthday greetings

Here's a photo of the card I sent her

Apparently Elena's favorite colors are burgundy and sapphire. I tried to incorporate her favorite colors onto my card. I started with a bright blue A2 card panel. I used one of the stamps from Altenew's Floral Shadow stamp set with Color Box Frost White Pigment Ink. I waited for the ink to dry. I then used some Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils to add color, to where I had stamped. For the sentiment, I used Clearly Besotted's Say What stamp set. I used Stampin' Up's Oval and Scalloped Oval punch to make the sentiment element.

Happy Birthday Elena

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge # 502

Hi! We're starting a new challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

Fun colours, right? Here's my card

I started my card with STAMPlorations In Bloom: Charmed Cherry Blossoms stamp, which I inked up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped in the upper left quadrant of a white A2 card base. I added color with Copic markers G07, R22, R35, YG03. To balance the image, I added the sentiment from STAMPlorations Sweet Spring Wishes stamp set on a scrap of green cardstock which I cut into a fishtail banner. The sentiment "be kind" is a reminder of what our Provincial Health Officer tells us at the end of each of her press conferences on Covid 19 - be calm, be kind, be safe.

We'd love for you to join us.

Die Cut Divas ~ September Challenge

The current challenge at Die Cut Divas is "Holidays", with our sponsor Cheapo Dies

Before joining the Die Cut Divas team, I hadn't heard of Cheapo Dies. They have a huge selection of brand name dies. They are offering a $15 gift certificate to our monthly winner. Will it be you?

Here's my card. No surprise, it's a Christmas card. I have so much Christmas stuff!

I started with a piece of 96 lb watercolor paper, a Carmine Red Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker and a water brush. I scribbled onto the watercolor paper with the marker and diluted and moved the color around with a water brush. Even though the marker is labelled red, it did take on a pink hue. I put the watercolor paper aside for a bit to make sure that the water and ink dried. I then used Elizabeth Craft Design's Ornament Set #2, which was available at Cheapo Dies (now sold out) to die cut the background from the watercolored panel and the outline with silver shimmer cardstock. There are many choices of Christmas ornament dies at Cheapo Dies that you could use to create a similar card. Here's a close up of the ornament.

I found some scripty red and pink Christmas patterned paper to provide the background for my ornament. I added some silver cord to complete the ornament. I popped the ornament up with some dimensionals. I put everything onto some light gray cardstock.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday ~ Challenge # 474

It's time for a new challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. Here's this week's sketch and photo inspiration.

I chose to be inspired by the photo inspiration. Here's my card

I started with STAMPlorations Coffee to Go: Fall and Winter stamp set. I stamped the cup design onto some white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers C2, E29, E47, R05, R29, R59, Y15, Y17, Y38, YG06, YG63, YG67, YR04, YR07, YR16 trying to use colors from the photo inspiration. I then stamped the cup outline over the cup design. I stamped the lid separately onto white cardstock. I then fussy cut both the cut and lid. For the background, I used some light brown cardstock and Cricut Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots embossing folder. For the sentiment, I used Papertrey Ink's What the Doodle: Tea Time Stamp Set, stamped onto a scrap of mustard cardstock. When adhering the cup and lid, I used dimensional adhesives.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #385

Monday .... again? Time is flying by. It's time for a new sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here is this week's sketch

Image may contain: text that says 'Sketch 385 Sentiment Createdb Michelle Stewart for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge'

Here's my card

I saw an idea for lanterns here

002 copy

I just love them. I started with Stampin' Up's Circle Circus stamp set and stamped the circle with Hero Arts Butter Bar, Fresh Peach, Soft Cantaloupe. I punched them out with a 3/4" circle punch. I then ran the circle through my Fiskars paper crimper. Remember paper crimpers? They were "the tool" to have and there is sits, in the far corner of my craft room. I dusted it off (LOL!) before using it. I cut black strips for the top and bottom of the lanterns (in fact, I just adhered the crimped circles to them, creating the top and bottom). Here's a close-up of my lanterns.

I used patterned papers from a 6x6 paper pack. For the sentiment, I stamped the "thank you" from Ink Blot Shop's Botanical Borders stamp set on a scrap of kraft cardstock. I cut it into a double fish tail banner.

Hoping this week's sketch inspired you to create something.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #501 Reminder Post

It's time for a post to remind you of the current "On the Farm" challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

I ordered some "farm" inspired stamps but they didn't arrive in time. So, I checked out some digital stamps and bought the Farm digital stamps from Jo Kavanagh Designs. Here's my card

There were several digital stamps to choose from. I settled on this cute cow. I sized it and printed it onto 80 lb cardstock with my inkjet printer. I added color using Copic markers E21, E37, E41, E59, R11, YG63. I just purchased some googly eyes and thought they would make this cow even cuter. For the sentiment, I used my Dymo Letratag device. It's a great way to add a sentiment when you have neither a real nor digital sentiment stamp.

It's time for a new challenge at Rainbow Card Challenge. This month, our theme is

Image may contain: 1 person, food

For my card, I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire with these cards.

Stamp Layering Video by Jennifer McGuire Ink

Here's my card

I used the technique Jennifer described. I started with an A2 piece of amber cardstock. I stamped with Winnie and Walter's In Bloom: Eva's Favorite Flowers with Hero Arts Butter Bar ink. I did experiment with other inks and liked the effect best with the Butter Bar ink for the solid stamps. I used Color Box Frost White pigment ink for the outlines. For the sentiment, I used Clearly Besotted's Flowers and Flourishes stamp set and Stampin' Up's oval punch and scalloped oval punch. I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals to complete the card.
