Die Cut Divas ~ Last Day of August Challenge

How is it possible that it's already the end of the month? Crazy!

It's our last day for our August Flower Challenge, sponsored by Rachel Vass Designs.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with Rachel Vass Design's Joyous Moments digital image. I sized it in Word and printed it with my ink jet printer. I did run an anti-static bag over some watercolor paper before printing it. I quickly applied clear embossing powder over the image and heat set it. It really works - you have to be fast though. I then used some Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush to add color to the image. I then fussy cut the flowers and leaves. I wasn't sure where to go with my card after that. I pulled out my Kat Scrappiness Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire die and some white cardstock. To add a bit more color, I chose a beautiful blue background (kind of like the sky). I popped the flowers and leaves up with a some dimensionals. I left the card without a sentiment because sometimes, you just need a nice note card.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #501

Hope you enjoyed the celebrating the 500th challenge at Cupcake Inspirations. It's time for a new challenge

I feel lucky that I have several "sheep/lamb" stamp sets, which work for this challenge. You see, my sister had a stuffed lamb growing up and every year for her birthday card, I stamp a sheep/lamb with the "happy birthday to ewe" sentiment. Here's my card

I started with Gerda Steiner Design's How are Ewe stamp set and stamped the sheep with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers (B60, C2, C5, E40, E43). I fussy cut the sheep. For the background circle, I cut circles from both light blue and light green cardstock with a Sizzix circle die. For the "curve" in the grass, I used Creative Memories' 12" decorative trimmer. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted's Feeling Sheepish stamp set. The word "ewe" is stamped with Hero Arts Tide Pool ink.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ 500th Challenge SPOTLIGHT - Inky Stamper

Phew - two weeks of celebrating are coming to a close! We're celebrating the 500th challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

The spotlight is on Inky Stamper who is one of the sponsors of our 500th Challenge celebration.

Here is my card

I used the Cupcake stamp from Inky Stamper. I stamped the image onto white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers. For the sprinkles, I used glitter gel pens for a bit of added shine and let's face it, I wouldn't have been able to use Copics - the sprinkles would need to be a lot larger for me to have been able to use Copics effectively. I trimmed the panel and matted with black cardstock. I found some patterned papers that worked with the colors of my image and added them to the background for some interest.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #500 SPOTLIGHT - Rachel Vass Designs

And the celebration of Cupcake Inspirations 500th Challenge continues ...

Today, the spotlight is on Rachel Vass Designs, one of the sponsors of our 500th Challenge celebration.

Here's my card

I started with the Doodle Flower digital image by Rachel Vass Designs which I printed with my inkjet printer onto 80 lb cardstock. Some of the advantages to working with digital images - you always get a nice clean image and smudge marks are non-existent. I trimmed the panel down to just a bit smaller than an A2 card. I added color with Copic markers (V04, V06, YG63, YG67). I chose to leave this card without a sentiment because sometimes you just need a pretty note card. I matted with black and adhered it to a white A2 card base.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #500 SPOTLIGHT - Louby Lou

We're still celebrating out 500th Challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.

Today, the spotlight is on Digital Designs by Louby Lou, who is one of the sponsors of our celebration.

Here's my card

I started with the Celebration Charlie digital stamp. It's such a cute image. I scaled it in Word and printed it out on 80 lb cardstock. I added color with Copic markers. I trimmed the panel down a bit and matted it with black cardstock.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday ~ Challenge # 472

Well, it's Tuesday, so it must be time for a new challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday

OPTIONAL THEME: Beverages either warm or cold

Isn't this a fun sketch. When I was creating my card, I was needing caffeine - so that was my inspiration. Here's my card

I started by stamping the cute coffee cup using The Alley Way's Breakfast Club stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers BG05, G05, R29. I used a Sizzix circle die and a Spellbinders scalloped circle die to make the focal circle and border. To complement this, I started by looking for coffee colored or coffee inspired patterned papers. I made my own small piece of "patterned paper", using Elizabeth Craft Design's Coffee stencil with ground espresso distress ink, applied with an ink blending tool. Note - it's that small piece under the sentiment strip! LOL! The sentiment is from STAMPlorations Hello Coffee stamp set. I used EK Success' postage stamp border punch  on the sentiment strip. I popped up the focal circle with dimensionals to complete the card.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 383

It's Monday - that must mean that it's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's this week's sketch

Here's my card

I found a sheet of SEI patterned paper to use. Boy, do I ever miss Creating Keepsake's Convention, like they used to be. I loved "shopping" at the SEI booth. OK - back to the task at hand. I cut the patterned paper for this card and adhered it to an A2 natural card. I added some black grosgrain ribbon using the "fake" bow technique. Do you know what that is? I cut a short piece (about 1.5") of grosgrain ribbon, using diagonal cuts on both ends. With a longer piece of grosgrain ribbon, I made a loop. I place the short piece in the center of the loop and tighten to close the loop. It sort of looks like a bow, without the bulk. I adhered this below the patterned paper. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP's Flower Friend stamp set.

How are you enjoying all the celebrating at Cupcake Inspirations? Lots of inspiration happening there.

Here's my card for this week

I started with the background. On a white A2 card panel, I added distress inks (tumbled glass, cracked pistachio, spun sugar, shaded lilac) randomly with an ink blending tool. I waited a bit to be sure that the inks had dried. Just in case, I swiped my anti static bag over the entire panel. I then stamped images from STAMPlorations Party Mates and Birthday Bash stamp sets with Versamark ink, added silver embossing powder and heat set the images. Next, I added color, with Zig Clean Color Real Brushes. I moved some of the color with a water brush.

Hope this inspires you to join our 500th challenge.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #500 SPOTLIGHT - Varada Sharma

The celebration continues. We are celebrating the 500th challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

Today, the spotlight is on Varada Sharma, one of the sponsors of our celebration.

Here's my card today

The digital image is from Something Sweet Gold, called Cupcake with strawberry and chocolate stick. I printed the image out and added color with Copic markers G07, E37, E43, R32, R37, Y11. I trimmed the panel down and matted it with black cardstock to add a frame. For the background, I used Stampin' Up's Confetti embossing folder with light pink cardstock.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #500 SPOTLIGHT - Crafty Scrappers and Gerda Steiner Designs

It's another day of celebrating the 500th challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

Today, the spotlight is on our sponsors Crafty Scrappers and Gerda Steiner Designs who have generously supplied prizes for our celebration.

I'm using a digital sentiment from Crafty Scrappers' Ms. Cupcake stamp set for my card.

First of all, did you know that you can watercolour with digital stamps? I did not, until I watched an informative video by Ishani here where she demonstrates some clever ways to use digital stamps. Well, I just had to try it out myself. I started by applying my static powder bag over a piece of watercolour paper. After sizing the digital image, I printed it out onto watercolour paper with my inkjet printer. Right away, I added clear embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. I have yet to master the technique of heat setting without warping the paper. I placed the panel under some stacks of paper to flatten it out. To add colour, I used distress inks - cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, shaded lilac applied with a water brush. I added a few sequins for a bit of sparkle.

Hope this is something you might try yourself. It's a nice option for working with digital images.

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ August Challenge

YIKES! I don't know what's happening. I'm sure that I had a post for Rainbow Card Challenge but it seems to have disappeared. Perhaps, it's floating around in cyberspace somewhere. Anyway, I'll do another post. This month, our challenge is

Here's my card

I started with Stampin' Up's Blooming with Kindness stamp set with Stampin' Up's cherry cobbler ink. I trimmed the panel down. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Thank You Stamp Set. For the background, I used Stampin' Up's cherry cobbler cardstock and Darice's Diagonal Stripe embossing folder.

We sure would love to see how you're inspired by this month's "radiant ruby" color. Be sure to keep your card monochromatic!

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #500 SPOTLIGHT - STAMPlorations and Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios

This post contains affiliate links. When you click on them and place an order, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

We're continuing the celebrating at Cupcake Inspirations for our 500th Challenge.

We have some great sponsors who have offered prizes and today, we have the spotlight on two - STAMPlorations and Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios.

I saw this great card by Vicki Dutcher and was inspired by it

Here's my card

I started by stamping some of the stamps from STAMPlorations Party Mates stamp set randomly on white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I used a 1" circle punch to make masks from 3"x3" post-it notes. I added color using distress inks (cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, shaded lilac) using the masks and ink blending tools. I did start with an entire A2 panel. However, after a few smudge marks, I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to a mauve A2 panel. The sentiment, stamped on a scrap strip of teal cardstock with a stamp from STAMPlorations Birthday Bash stamp set was popped up with dimensionals to complete the card.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #500

This post contains affiliate links. When you click on them and place an order, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

WOW!!! 500 challenges - that's quite the accomplishment! In order to celebrate our 500th Challenge and Cupcake Inspirations we have some awesome sponsors and will be highlighting them in the coming days. Today, we're having a birthday celebration.

Here's my card to help celebrate #500

I started by masking off an area of the STAMPlorations ARTplorations Prim Triangles stencil with post-it tape. I then adhered the stencil to an A2 white card base and added Mermaid Lagoon distress ink, using an ink blending tool. I carefully removed the stencil from the card base when complete. I then used STAMPlorations CUTplorations Cupcake Builder 2 dies to make my cupcake. Doesn't it look yummy? For the sentiment, I used a STAMPlorations Shine Bright clear sticker on a scrap of the same red as the cherry, to create a banner. I popped the cupcake up with dimensionals to create a new level.

Happy Birthday Cupcake Inspirations!

Try Stampin' on Tuesday - Challenge #470

Two weeks ago, I messed up. I had just been named to a new design team and I didn't get my card posted in time. Well, I'm here now and I'm proud to say that I'm excited to join the design team at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. Our new challenge is

with the Optional Theme: texture

Here's my card

I searched Pinterest looking for inspiration. I was intrigued to try stamping on felt. Here's a close-up of the sheep.

I flipped the main focal panel 90 degrees. I stamped using a sheep stamp from Gerda Steiner Designs' How are Ewe stamp set and Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto some white felt. I used my MISTI and I needed to re-stamp several times to get a good impression. I let the ink dry and then fussy cut the tuft of fleece on the sheep's head and the sheep's body. I also stamped the head and feet onto cardstock and added color with Copic markers C2, C5. I added some texture with Cuttlebug's Chicken Wire Border embossing folder and some jute baker's twine. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Lunch Box Notes dies to die cut the sentiment box and I stamped the sentiment using Reverse Confetti's All About Ewe stamp set.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #381

Hi! Can't believe that we're almost halfway through August. Time sure is flying by. It felt like March took about a year and a half to pass but since then, everything has sped up. Do you feel that way too? I don't know where the time is going.

It's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Image may contain: text that says 'Sketch 381 Sentiment Createdby Michelle Stewart for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Chal hallenge'

Here's my card

For inspiration, I picked up Pink & Main's Spring Flings 6x6 paper pack and selected the multicolored chevron patterned paper. I then dug in my cardstock scraps for the other components of the card. For the sentiment, I used Your Next Stamp's Soaring By stamp set. I added a flower sticker from Recollections.

We'd love for you to join us this week.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #499 Reminder

Hi Friends! Stopping by to remind you of the current challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

Our theme is nautical - here's my card

I've come to realize that I have few stamps/dies with a nautical theme. I'm correcting that "flaw" and I have a few stamp sets on the way. I started this card with my only "nautical" die - Memory Box's Majestic Anchor die, which I used with silver shimmer cardstock. I found the "nautical" patterned paper in Authentique's 6x6 bundle Seafarer collection. I die cut a circle using a Sizzix circle die and a navy scalloped circle mat using Spellbinders scalloped circle die. For the sentiment, I used a stamp from STAMPlorations' Imagine stamp set with Hero Arts navy ink.

Won't you join us? There is still time.

Die Cut DIvas August Challenge

SQUEE!!! I'm so excited to announce that I'm joining the design team at Die Cut Divas. All cards/projects must use at least one die cut or embossing folder to be eligible to join our challenges.

This month's challenge is "all about the FLOWERS".

This month, Rachel Vass Designs is our sponsor.

Check out her etsy shop for beautiful floral digital stamps.

Here's my card

I used Rachel Vass Designs' Joyous Moments digital stamp set for my card. I added color with Copic markers R35, R37, YG63, YG67. I die cut the flower using a My Favorite Things Circle Stax Die-Namics die. For the background panel, I used a dark green with Provocraft's D'Vine Swirls embossing folder for a bit of texture. I printed out the sentiment from the same digital stamp set and trimmed it before adhering it to the card.

I hope that I've inspired you to join us this month. The challenge winner will be able to choose three digital stamps from Rachel Vass' etsy store. Will you be the winner?

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #499

It's time for a new challenge at Cupcake Inspirations

Image may contain: food

Here's my card

I have always been kind of fascinated with maritime flags - I didn't realize that there is a maritime alphabet made entirely of flags. I think that it's very cool that messages could be spelled out using maritime flags. However, for my card, I didn't spell out any message. Actually, I used typical maritime flag colors and adapted "real" maritime flags for my card. To start, I die cut with light gray cardstock and Simon Says STAMP's Party Banner die. I also die cut the flags with white, blue, yellow and red cardstock. With thin strips, a small circle punch and scissors, I was able to create the flags. I adhered the string and flags onto a light blue A2 card panel. I didn't have any "nautical" sentiments, so I stamped a simple "hello" using Ink Blot Shop's Simple Sentiments stamp set.
