Happy Little Stampers ~ July Watercolor Challenge

I'm so honoured and excited to let you know that I'm joining the design team at Happy Little Stampers - Watercolour Challenge. The challenge for this month is

Here's my card

I started with a simple card. I smooshed some tumbled glass distress ink on a craft sheet and picked the ink with a water brush and scribbled in a diagonal direction - upper right to lower left on an A2 sized piece of 96 lb bristol. I then added some salty ocean distress ink, applied in the same way to create a "sky". For the "optional: Wings" part of the challenge, I used STAMPlorations Trendy Birds 2 stamp set. I stamped the birds and the sentiment using Versafine Onyx black ink with my MISTI, to ensure a good impression.

Would love to see how you're inspired by this month's challenge.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge # 347

Hi! It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! This week, the challenge is

Make Your Mark - requires that you entry MUST contain the use of anything that can make a mark - markers, paints, chalks, watercolors, sponges, stencils, masks, etc.

Here's my card

I started by inking up a square acrylic block by "scribbling" blue and green Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I spritzed the acrylic block with water and I stamped it onto a piece of 96 lb bristol paper. I added the silhouettes using Technique Tuesday's Wildflowers stamp set, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink. The sentiment is from Hero Arts You'r So Lovely stamp set. I added some dots with a thin black marker, behind the dragonfly to mimic its "flight path".

I matted the panel onto green cardstock to complete the card.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #321

I'm running a bit behind schedule. I've been busy but it's still Monday - at least here on the West Coast. There is a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week. Here's this week's sketch

My sister has a love for all things lamb/sheep. Her stuffy growing up was a lamb. So, when I see a lamb/sheep inspired stamp set, I just have to have it to make cards for her. Wonder if she's tired of receiving lamb/sheep cards! I stamped this cute lamb/sheep using Gerda Steiner's How Are Ewe stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color using Copic markers. I fussy cut the image.

For the mottled background, I applied Mowed Lawn and Shabby Shutters distress inks using ink blending tools. I used a scrap strip of light grey cardstock for the horizontal strip and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. I just love "pun-ny sentiments.

Hope you can join us this week.

STAMPlorations - Mid June Reminder Post

It's mid-month and it's time for a reminder post at STAMPlorations to remind you that you still have time to join this month's CAS challenge

Here's my card

I tried to stick to the optional color twist of mahogany. I started out with STAMPlorations Artplorations Prim Triangles and aged mahogany distress ink, applied with an ink blending tool. I masked off two repeats of the pattern to keep the card, clean and simple. I found a scrap of mahogany cardstock from which I die cut a tag, using My Favorite Things Die-Namics Ta Builder Blueprints 2. I stamped a sentiment from STAMPlorations Fond Expressions 2 onto a scrap of white cardstock and trimmed it down to fit on the tag. I found some silver ribbon for the tag and popped the tag up with dimensionals for some depth.

Hope you'll join the challenge at STAMPlorations. You still have time!

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge # 345

We're celebrating the 7th birthday of Addicted to Stamps and More! this week. We have a photo to inspire you.

Here's my card

I was inspired by the balloons and the colors of the balloons. I started by stamping the sentiment from Simon Says STAMP's Happy Every Day stamp onto a white A2 card base. I also stamped the sentiment on scraps of cardstock in colors similar to those found on the inspiration photo. I die cut balloons using Paper Smooches Balloons dies from different parts of the sentiment. I adhered the balloons, placing them directly over the corresponding part of the original image stamped on the card base. I drew in the balloon strings with a fine black marker.

Hope you're inspired by this week's photo.

STAMPlorations CAS ~ June Challenge

It's a new month which means that there is a new challenge at STAMPlorations CAS. This month the challenge is

Here's my card

I couldn't think of how to incorporate mahogany onto my card, so CAS  card it is. I started with an A2 kraft panel. On a separate piece of kraft, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped two birds from the STAMPlorations Fowl Play stamp set. I added color with Copic markers and using a Sizzix circle die, have the birds on a circle. I added a blue scalloped edge using a Spellbinders Scalloped circle die. Using a fine black tip marker, I added some dots to mimic gravel for the chicks to peck at. On a lighter shade of beige, I added a sentiment, from the same stamp set.

We'd love for you to join us this month.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #319

It's Monday and that means that it's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the new sketch

I love making tags. I don't really use them so putting them onto cards makes sense to me. I started by lightly drawing a circle, with a pencil. This provided me with a guideline of where to place my flowers and leaves to make a wreath. I used flowers and leaves from Hero Arts Spring Hello by Lia and the inks used were Hero Arts Butter Bar, Green Hills and Fresh Peach. The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp's Whatnot Sentiments Four stamp set and was stamped with Hero Arts Soft Granite ink. I used some shiny silver twine to complete the tag. I adhered the tag to a kraft panel, slightly smaller than the A2 white card base.

The Rainbow Card Challenge - Guest Designer

I'm so honoured to be a guest designer at The Rainbow Card Challenge this month. WOOHOOO!

Here's the colour prompt for this month

Don't you just love the bright and yummy colours? I certainly do. Here is my card

For this one-layer card, I started by lightly marking a 3.5" x 2.5" rectangle. I then randomly stamped flowers and leaves from Hero Arts Spring Hello by Lia, Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia and STAMPlorations Frames and Flowers stamp sets with Hero Arts Neon inks (blue, pink, green, orange) and Hero Arts Lemon Yellow ink. With a fine black marker, I drew a frame around the stamped images. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments stamp set.

Can't wait to see how you're inspired by this month's colour prompt.
