Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge ~ October

Woah! How is it already October? That's crazy. I remember thinking that summer was never going to end and now it's October? Before I know it, I'll be caught up in the Christmas frenzy when I thought I had time to plan! LOL!

Well, being that it's the beginning of October (at least in Austrailia, it is), we have a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge.

Here's my card

For my card, I scribbled on a round acrylic block with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers - Cornflower Blue, Light Green, Light Violet. I spritzed the acrylic block with water then "stamped" onto 140 lb Strathmore watercolour paper. I repeated the process a few times, until the circle was "full". I used a sentiment from Simon Says STAMP's Big Scripty Greetings and stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink when the background was dry. I trimmed the watercolour panel and double matted with black and finally with purple. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your watercolour creations in our gallery this month.

Die Cut Divas & STAMPlorations ~ September Challenge

Time is running out on our current challenge at Die Cut Divas. Our challenge is

ANYTHING GOES, with optional AUTUMN

Our sponsor this month is STAMPlorations. A $20 gift code for digital products will be given to our winner, courtesy of STAMPlorations. The co-owner, Shery, is currently battling breast cancer and has limited bundled products available for sale in addition to her digital products.

Here's my card

For my card, I used STAMPlorations Boxed Blooms digital stamp (set of 4). I printed the daisy image four times with my inkjet printer. I added color with Copic markers - BG13, BG15, E59, R35, R37, V15, V17, Y06, Y15, Y38. I die cut them out using a My Favorite Things Stitched Square STAX die. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Happy Birthday Script die, which I stacked three high for a bit of dimension. I adhered the elements to a light gray A2 card panel which was then glued to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your creation in our gallery. This is the last day for our challenge this month. Please remember to use at least one die cut.

Addicted to Stamps and More ~ Challenge #439

Loving all the crafty time I seem to have lately. Nothing really makes me happier than playing with paper. We have a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! that we hope you'll be able to participate in.

Any occasion? I picked a "thank you" card. I'm always in need of thank you cards because I donate them to my friend's charity. They use them to thank their donors.

Being of Japanese descent, I'm always on the lookout for Japanese-inspired products. I found the Spellbinders Kimono Cutting dies and just knew that I needed to add them to my "collection". I die cut the kimono "outlines" using gold cardstock and a royal blue for the "insides". I chose a black A2 panel to help the gold and blue pop. I heat embossed the sentiment using Waffle Flowers Konnichiwa stamp set and gold embossing powder. I carefully glued all the pieces in place and then adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your creations in our gallery.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday ~ Challenge #574

I was supposed to work yesterday. However, with Queen Elizabeth II's funeral being held, we were given the day off to watch the funeral (which happened to come on at 2am). No, I did not get up at 2am to watch. I PVRd it and watched it when I got up. It's heartwarming and amazing to see how many people lined up to attend her majesty's lying-in-state at the Palace of Westminster. She was an incredible monarch doing a difficult job and doing it with such grace and poise.

We have a new challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday

I tried to use both the technique and sketch on my card. I rotated the sketch.

I started with an A2 sized piece of white cardstock. I then used my Make Art STAY-tion to hold my Simon Says STAMP's wave stencil and card panel in place with its magnets. I added color with distress inks - cracked pistachio, mermaid lagoon, salty ocean, peacock feathers, applied 'carefully' with ink daubers. I say 'carefully' because I'm not a fan of Pixie Spray to hold the thin stencil lines in place. I then stamped five fish using The Alley Way's Castaways and Sea Mates stamp set and Simon Says STAMP's Best Fishes stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers - B02, BG05, BG13, R32, R37, V12, Y06, Y17, Y38, YG06, YR04. I then fussy cut the fish and added glossy accents to their eyes (at least, those where their eyes were open - LOL!) The sentiment using a stamp from Sunny Studio's Oceans of Joy stamp set is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink on some white cardstock and then trimmed to a strip. I arranged all the pieces and glued them in place and then adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see either how you're inspired by our sketch or our listed technique or combine the two!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #491

I'm a bit late in posting today. I spent most of my day watching the Queen's funeral. I didn't actually get up at 2am. I PVRd the show. However, I did get up at 6am, so I started watching then. This afternoon, I went back to watch the beginning. I loved all the pageantry and uniforms. Everything seemed so well planned and executed. RIP your majesty!

It's Monday so that it means we have a new sketch for you at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Here's my take on the sketch

I started with the multi-colored chevron patterned paper. I matched up some Concord & 9's inks to the patterned paper - Honeysuckle, Oceanside and Parsley. I inked up some white cardstock with the inks using oval ink blending brushes. I stamped the silhouette using Gina K Design's Wild Blossoms stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then die cut the cardstock with a Sizzix circle die. I then cut a 2 1/8" x 3 1/4" navy blue piece of cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment on the navy blue cardstock using Clearly Besotted's Sentimental Type and silver embossing powder. I glued the focal image circle to the navy cardstock. I used the Oceanside and Parsley inks to ink blend white cardstock, creating the two vertical strips. I glued them to a A2 sized piece of the patterned paper and then adhered the navy rectangle in place. To complete the card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #229

Are you ready for our next challenge at Addicted to CAS? For the next fortnight, our challenge is

Going to be honest. I had to do a lot of thinking with this code word, CRAFT. I wasn't really sure what to do. Then, I thought about my grandfather, who was a master carpenter. Once retired, he made violins (3 of them), from scratch. Honestly, the first one sounded a bit like strings on a cigar box. However, with each subsequent attempt, it sounded better and better. For some, carpentry is a trade. For others, like my grandfather, it's a craft. Here's my card

For my card, I started with the frame. I swiped a mini ink cube of Hero Arts Cup O' Joe ink on some white cardstock in straight lines. It creates something that looks like wood. I cut pieces and made a frame with some darker kraft cardstock in the center. I stamped the sentiment, using Sunny Studio's Tool Time stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then stamped the hammer, with smiley face and the nails using the same stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added a bit of color with Copic markers - C2, C5, E33, E43. I don't own the matching dies, so I fussy cut them out. To place the nails into the frame, I used an exacto knife to make a small slit, into which I slid the nail. I added a bit of glue behind the nail head to hold it in place. I adhered the frame onto an A2 card panel of light kraft cardstock. I then added the hammer. To complete my card, I adhered the A2 card panel to a white A2 card base.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our code word, CRAFT. Please add your creations to our gallery.

Perfectly CAS ~ Challenge #31 September 2022

With Halloween just around the corner, we have a timely challenge for you at Perfectly CAS. This month, it's

While I'm not into anything scary, I do enjoy seeing the little ones dressed up, hoping for candy treats. Here's my card

I stamped the little monster and the sentiment using Your Next Stamp's Way Cool Monsters with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I added color with Copic markers - B24, V06, W2, YG03, YR07, YR16. I added some glossy accents to his/her eyes for a bit of shine and dimension. For the stripes, I used Scrapbook.com's Slim Strips dies with purple, blue and green cardstock. I adhered the stripes horizontally on a white A2 card base. I then die cut the little monster using a Sizzix circle die. I felt the little monster got lost a bit, so I die cut a black mat using a My Favorite Things Stitched Circle STAX die to help the focal circle stand out.

We'd love to see your Halloween inspired cards in our gallery. Please remember to keep it clean and simple, covering one-third or less of the card panel.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #438

It's starting to feel like Autumn. I'm certainly enjoying the cooler temperatures, especially at night. It sure makes it easier to sleep when it's cool.

We have a new challenge starting at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Here's my card

It's a clean and simple, one-layer card. I started with a white A2 card base and used Simon Says STAMP's Slimline Floral stencil along with distress inks - twisted citron, ripe persimmon, picked raspberry, applied with oval ink blending brushes. I used pieces of post-it notes to help keep the colors separate. For the sentiment, I used Papertrey Ink's Sentiment Staples: Birthday and Concord & 9's Dove ink.

We'd love to see your birthday creations in our gallery over the next fortnight.

Die Cut Divas ~ September Challenge with STAMPlorations

It's starting to feel like autumn (finally!). While I'm enjoying the cooler temperatures, I'm not really liking the shorter days. At least, there still is some daylight after dinner.

We have a new challenge at Die Cut Divas and a new sponsor this month. STAMPlorations is our sponsor and will be giving our winner a code worth $20 for digital images in their shop. STAMPlorations' owner, Shery is currently battling breast cancer and many of the "real" products - stamps, stencils, dies, paper goods are currently not available at this time.

Our challenge this month is
ANYTHING GOES, with optional AUTUMN

Here's my card

For my card, I used STAMPlorations Autumn Pumpkin Mug digital stamp, which I sized on my laptop and then printed with my inkjet printer. I added color with Copic markers - C2, E08, E33, E43, E71, G82, G94, Y15, Y17, Y35, YG63, YR04, YR07, YR16. I die cut the image panel and the black mat panel with two of Waffle Flower A2 Layers dies. For the sentiment, I used STAMPlorations Coffeecionado stamp set, which I stamped onto a scrap of gold color cardstock and trimmed to a thin strip. I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals.

We'd love to see your ANYTHING GOES, with optional AUTUMN creations in our gallery this month.

Happy Little Stampers ~ Stencil Challenge

I really like playing with stencils and ink. Stencils make sure that the ink goes in the right place, well unless, I inadvertently move the stencil - LOL! Also, stencils are typically a bit more affordable. Well, they had been until the layered stencils were introduced. Layered stencils are awesome though - a way to add different colors without having the mask off the areas. We have a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Stencil Challenge

Here's my card

For my card, I used Taylored Expressions Create-in-Quads Layering Hexagon stencil, which I received as part of the Crop & Create Delivered Cardmaking Event held March 25-27, 2022. The stencils are quite large. However, you create 4 card panels at the same time. Your blending arm gets quite a work out. I used Concord & 9's honeysuckle, peacock, oceanside and sea glass inks, added with oval ink blending brushes - one ink color per stencil. I trimmed the panel and matted with black cardstock. For the sentiment, I used Taylored Expressions' Oh Yes You Did stamp set, which we also received in our Event kit. I heat embossed with white embossing powder on black cardstock, which I trimmed to a thin strip. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see your stenciled creations in our gallery this month.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday ~ Challenge #572

Hello Crafty Friends! It's time for a new challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday

Optional Theme: Harvest

Here's my card

I stamped Your Next Stamp's Autumn Harvest stamp of the cute image of bunnies and pumpkins using Memento Tuxedo black ink on some white cardstock. I added color with Copic markers - BG13, C2, C3, E50, E71, W2, Y38, YR04 and die cut the image using a My Favorite Things Stitched Circle STAX die. I found some striped paper with an autumnal color palette. I stamped the sentiment on kraft for a bit of a rustic look. I attached everything to a natural A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch this week. Looking forward to seeing your creations in our gallery.

Happy Little Stampers ~ Christmas Challenge

When it's hot outside, I like playing in my craft room. As long as it's relatively cool and the fan isn't blowing papers all over the place, I'm happy to sit at my craft table and play with paper. Also, when it's hot outside, it's nice to think about Christmas. We have a new challenge for the month of September at Happy Little Stampers ~ Christmas Challenge

Here's my card

To add "metallic" to my card, I used gold embossing powder and some gold cardstock. I started by heat embossing the tree using Stampin' Up's Lovely as a Tree stamp set and gold embossing powder on kraft cardstock. I trimmed the kraft to 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" and matted with gold cardstock. For the sentiment, I used a scrap of kraft cardstock and Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages stamp set and gold embossing powder. I trimmed the scrap. I adhered everything to a dark green A2 card panel which was in turn, adhered to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see you Christmas creation, with or without the "metallic" twist in our gallery this month.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #228

We have a fun challenge for the next fortnight at Addicted to CAS

Our Code Word is BIRDS

Here's my card

I thought of those funny birds that Tim Holtz did. Of course, I couldn't find mine. So it was off to plan B. This cute bird is from Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers - BG13, E02, G07, R35, Y11, Y17, Y38. I added some Glossy Accents to the bird's eyes for some shine and dimension and added Crystal Stickles to the party hat for a bit of sparkle. I die cut the image with a Sizzix circle die. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set on some white cardstock, which I trimmed to a 7/8" wide strip. I found some rather party-inspired patterned paper which I used for the horizontal strips. I adhered the elements to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your BIRD inspired cards in our gallery.

Happy Little Stamper ~ September Birthday Challenge

It's time for a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Birthday Challenge

Here's my card

When I saw the Layered Candles Stencils from Pretty Pink Posh, I just had to have them. I tried to color each candle somewhat individually with post-it notes to try to contain the color. Some places worked better than others. I used many distress ink colors - cracked pistachio, lucky clover, salvaged patina, peacock feathers, tumbled glass, salty ocean, shaded lilac, wilted violet, saltwater taffy worn lipstick, carved pumpkin, ripe persimmon, dried marigold, wild honey, squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, all applied with oval ink blending brushes. Perhaps, I need to invest in mini ink blending brushes which would help to contain the color better. For the sentiment, I used Unity Stamps Say It Big dies. I die cut the words with light gray cardstock and the shadow with vellum. I didn't want to cover up too much of my ink blending! The word "happy" uses a stamp from Papertrey Ink's Sentiment Staples: Birthday stamp set and is stamped on a scrap of the same light gray cardstock and cut down with my paper trimmer.

We'd love to see your birthday creations in our gallery this month.
