Hi Crafty Friends! It's exciting for the last challenge of 2021 at Rainbow Card Challenge. However, it's a sad day also because it's our last challenge. After this challenge, we will stop posting challenges. Our challenge for this month is

Here's my card

I was inspired by Virginia Lu and her card below. Of course, I had to order the Altenew Mid-Century Festivities stamp and die set. 

I stamped the two different ornaments with Hero Arts inks - Cornflower, Pale Tomato, Tide Pool, Lemon Yellow, Tangerine, Bubble Gum and Simon Says STAMP's Fern ink and die cut them. For the tops of the ornaments, I heat embossed with silver embossing powder and fussy cut them. I adhered one to each of the ornaments. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink on a white A2 card panel. I arranged the ornaments on the card panel and drew a string to each of the ornaments with a fine black marker. I adhered the ornaments and popped up a few for dimension. To complete the card like Virginia, I added some sequins to add a bit of shine and sparkle.

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ November Challenge

November, already? It's crazy how quickly the days are going by. New month, new challenge at Rainbow Card Challenge. 

Here's my card

For my card, I started by searching through my scraps of paper for something that was "sage". I found this "old" patterned paper of Creative Memories. Here was my starting point. I cut a piece 2.5" x 5.5". I then die cut some feathers (although, they could be "leaves") using Paper Smooches Feathers die from some sage colored cardstock. For the sentiment, I stamped it onto a strip of natural cardstock using Technique Tuesday's Look Out World stamp set and Bundled Sage distress ink. I adhered everything to an A2 natural card base to finish the card.

Here's my card

When I saw the inspiration panel and the color "glorious goldenrod", I thought of the sun's rays. Something that has been replaced by clouds and raindrops here in the Pacific Northwest! For my card, I inked up a yellow panel using Tim Holtz' Rays Layering Stencil and mustard seed distress ink, applied with an ink blending tool. I trimmed the panel down to 3.25" x 4.5". I planned on popping the panel on a yellow A2 card panel, using fun foam. Before I adhered it, I stamped the sentiment from the SCT Delivered Online Card Class March 2021 stamp set with Hero Arts Soft Granite ink on the bottom right corner. I adhered the panel with the fun foam for dimension and added a few sequins for a bit of shine to complete the card.

Here's my card

I watched a video (somewhere) of Gina K making a card. She started by using bubble wrap as a stamp. So I decided to try. I had a used bubble envelope. I cut it up, exposing the interior bubbles and inked it up with Stampin' Up's Concord Crush ink and stamped it onto a white A2 card panel. It turned out pretty cool, I think! I trimmed the panel down slightly and matted it with some dark purple cardstock. I cut a smaller panel of the same color for the focal panel. I die cut the simple outline of a flower using Paper Smooches' Dainty Flower die and white cardstock. For the sentiment, I stamped using Mint Owl Studio - Banner Sentiments I and the same Concord Crush ink on a scrap of white cardstock. I punched out the circle, using a 1.5" circle punch. I adhered the sentiment, so that the white overlapped a bit of the smaller purple panel and trimmed it. I also adhered the white outline flower to the smaller purple panel and adhered it all to the background to complete my card.

Isn't this a gorgeous color? Here's my card

I started this card with some shiny teal cardstock and Cuttlebug Cricut's Blossom Dance embossing folder. I then used a sanding block to sand the raised areas. For the die cut, I used Memory Box's Gloriosa Vine from teal cardstock. I also cut a few using black cardstock and stacked them, resulting in a bit of a dark shadow. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Just Words No. 01 die. I cut one from the same teal cardstock and again a few using black cardstock to stack. For the central panel, I used some silver shimmer cardstock as a background for the vine and sentiment.

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ July Challenge

UGH - I feel like I've lost several days due to a crazy heat wave here in the Pacific Northwest. Most of us don't have AC in our homes and some don't have AC in their cars either. My apartment was around 90 degrees F. It was impossible for me to craft; heck I could barely think. I'm grateful that it now seems that we're getting more comfortable temperatures and there is a nice cool breeze today. So, it's time to catch up.

My card highlights mostly patterned papers using Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper Patterns Pack - In Color 2010-12. Yup, I collect patterned paper. I used Simon Says STAMP's Hexagon Tiles die to die cut the hexagons from a variety of patterned papers. I arranged them on a light gray A2 card panel and adhered them in a bit of an organic pattern, leaving a void for the sentiment. I die cut the sentiment using Simon Says STAMP's Just Words No. 1 from some "cherry" cardstock.

Happy June Friends! I'm loving the longer days and more sunshine.

Here's my card

I started by selecting a stencil to use. I chose the Ethnic Organic One ARTplorations stencil by STAMPlorations. I wanted to do something a bit different from ink blending. What I did was rip some printer paper to give myself some unique edges. I added the colors in rainbow order using distress inks (mustard seed, carved pumpkin, festive berries, seedless preserves, salty ocean, mowed lawn) and using a different ripped edge of printer paper for each color. I like how the panel turned out. For the sentiment, I heat embossed using white embossing powder and the stamp from Paper Smooches Word Salad stamp set on a scrap of black cardstock. That's my rainbow-inspired card.

I started with My Favorite Things Trendy Triangles stamp set and Hero Arts Cornflower ink. I stamped many triangles on white cardstock and then used My Favorite Things Die-namics Triangles to die cut the triangles. I arranged the on a periwinkle A2 card panel and adhered them when I found a design I liked. I added a sentiment using Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set with Hero Arts Cornflower ink.

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ April 2021

It's April and I hope it doesn't bring too many showers! Although I live in the Pacific Northwest and am used to rain, I definitely prefer the sunshine. April 1st brings a new challenge at Rainbow Card Challenge

Isn't this month's color just perfect for Spring? Here's my card

For my card, I started with Stampin' Up's Regarding Dahlias stamp. I inked it up with Hero Arts Butter Bar ink and stamped onto some white cardstock. I trimmed the panel and double matted with yellow and black for a different look. The sentiment also uses a Stampin' Up stamp set, Made for You. I initially stamped it onto the yellow card panel but of course, it wasn't straight. So, I stamped it only a slightly darker yellow scrap of cardstock and punched it out with Stampin' Up's Word Window Punch and adhered it over the "boo-boo".

Here's my card

I started this card by heat embossing with white embossing powder the stem of a flower (or is it a weed) using a stamp from Inkadinkado Meadow stamp set. I added shaded lilac distress ink around the embossed image with an ink blending tool. For the sentiment, I used Mint Owl Studio Banner Sentiments with Hero Arts Passion Flower ink. I trimmed the panel to 3" x 4". I trimmed a mauve cardstock to 3.25" x 4.25" and was going to use it to mat the focal panel. However, I was feeling a bit more whimsical, and decided to tilt the mauve panel. I found some patterned mauve paper and added a 2.5" x 4.25" horizontal strip behind the mauve and focal panels. To complete the card, I added a bow made with mauve organza ribbon.

I personally like the look of cards with a neutral color palette. For my card, I found some patterned paper covered with writing. I pulled out my Stampin' Up's Upsy Daisy stamp set. I used to use it a lot but it seems to be collecting dust now. I love this image and stamped it on the patterned paper. Don't look too closely, because I stamped the image upside down on the patterned paper. Shhhh - please don't tell anyone. I decided to just go with the flow and finish the card I trimmed the panel down and matted with black. For a bit of texture, I added wide hemp ribbon behind the panel and a bow using black organza ribbon. I adhered everything to a natural A2 card panel.

Rainbow Card Challenge ~ December Challenge

We've made it to December! One more month and the longest year will be over. Who could have predicted what 2020 would be like? We have one last challenge at Rainbow Card Challenge for 2020.

I was inspired by the ornaments in the bottom right corner. Here's my card

I found a new (to me) stamp company from England, called Polkadoodles. I've used their Baubles and Banners stamp set for this card. I stamped the various images randomly using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto watercolor paper. I then added color with my Michael's Artist's Loft Watercolor Set, some water and a paint brush. I'm just getting started using watercolors and I'm loving the way you get "fuzzy" lines. While the images are precise, the watercoloring can be a little more forgiving with "fuzzy" lines. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say! I used a silver sparkle gel pen to color in the tops of the ornaments and a gold sparkle gel pen to color in some of the "dots". I didn't want to cover up the images so I heat embossed the sentiment onto vellum. I used STAMPlorations' Christmas Bell Medley stamp set and silver embossing powder.

For my card, I went through some of my 6x6 paper packs and selected patterned paper that was blue/sapphire. I was specifically looking for tone on tone patterned paper. I cut the paper into strips - where the long edges were not parallel. I wanted a bit of an organic look rather than straight parallel strips of patterned paper. I adhered the strips to a dark blue A2 card panel. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Script Thanks die.

Do you ever have an idea in your head, execute it and it doesn't exactly look the way you thought? Yup, that happened to me for my "smoky slate" card. It was OK but it just lacked something. So, I tried again. I was much happier with this result. Here's my card

I started with Altenew's Feeling Dotty stencil, light gray cardstock and weathered wood distress ink, applied with an oval makeup brush. I stamped the butterfly using Stampin' Up's God's Beauty stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added some grasses using Technique Tuesday's Wildflowers and Growing Wild stamp sets. Then, I brushed off my Creative Memories' oval custom cutting system and cut a large oval. I adhered the oval to some dark gray cardstock, matted with a medium gray. I found some tone on tone patterned paper for the vertical strip to complete the card.

For my card, I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire with these cards.

Here's my card

I used the technique Jennifer described. I started with an A2 piece of amber cardstock. I stamped with Winnie and Walter's In Bloom: Eva's Favorite Flowers with Hero Arts Butter Bar ink. I did experiment with other inks and liked the effect best with the Butter Bar ink for the solid stamps. I used Color Box Frost White pigment ink for the outlines. For the sentiment, I used Clearly Besotted's Flowers and Flourishes stamp set and Stampin' Up's oval punch and scalloped oval punch. I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals to complete the card.

I started with Stampin' Up's Blooming with Kindness stamp set with Stampin' Up's cherry cobbler ink. I trimmed the panel down. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Thank You Stamp Set. For the background, I used Stampin' Up's cherry cobbler cardstock and Darice's Diagonal Stripe embossing folder.

Phew! What a whirlwind. I found out early yesterday, while I was at work, that I was selected to become a member of the design team at Rainbow Card Challenge. Could I have a card ready to go that evening? Yikes - that's pressure! I thought about it all day at work and a light bulb went off. This month's challenge is

Here's my card

I reached for Sugar Pea Designs Bring On the Cake stamp set. I stamped the three parts of the cake with Hero Arts Tangerine ink and fussy cut the parts. I also stamped the streamers twice with the same ink and fussy them. I "rounded" the streamers so that when adhered to a card, it would look like they were hanging from the ceiling. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with the same ink. I popped the parts of the cake up with dimensionals.
