Die Cut Divas ~ Non-Traditional Valentine Cards with Hero Arts

It's the last day of our challenge at Die Cut Divas. Our February challenge is

NON-TRADITIONAL VALENTINE CARDS

Our sponsor this month is Hero Arts. They will be giving our winner a $25 gift card.

Here's my non-traditional Valentine's card.

No red hearts, here. For my card, I used Hero Arts' With Sympathy stamp set and die set bundle that I received as part of Crop & Create Delivered Sept/Oct 2023. I heat embossed the leafy branch image with gold embossing powder and used the coordinating die to die cut it out. I added color with Copic markers - BG13, G05, RV34, YG23. I made two. On a light gray A2 card panel, I heat embossed with gold embossing powder the sentiment, using Hero Arts Color Layering For You Flowers. I glued the two leafy branches in place and finally adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your non-traditional Valentine's card in our gallery, which closes at 9 pm Pacific time.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #462

Time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Christmas in February? Sure, why not! Here's my card

I started with Spellbinders Scattered Christmas embossing folder and a A2 panel of kraft cardstock. I dusted off my Tim Holtz Distress Crayons (LOL!), both set 1 & set 2. I scribbled on the various raised areas and smoothed out the color application with my finger. For the reindeer, I used Simon Says STAMP's Reindeer Parts die set. I inked the edges of the die cuts for a bit of shading. I used a scrap of red glitter paper for the reindeer's nose. For the sentiment, I used The Ton's Holiday Flourish stamp set and gold embossing powder.

We'd love to see your Christmas creations in our gallery this fortnight.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #641

How are y'all doing? Hope you're finding time to have fun in your craft space. I've been working a lot and really miss crafting. Even a few minutes to play with paper or color with my Copics really makes me happy.

We have a new challenge at Try A Sketch On Tuesday which we hope will inspire you.

Here's my card

For my card, I masked off an area 1 3/4" x 5 1/8" on a white A2 card base. I used STAMPlorations' Placid stencil with distress inks - cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon, applied with oval ink blending brushes. For the horizontal strip, I used a Sizzix/Stephanie Bernard Borders die and some teal cardstock. For the fish, I used the Alley Way's Sea Mates stamp set. I stamped the fish with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers - B12, BG05, E40, RV14, V06, Y17, YG23, YR16. I fussy cut the fish and added glossy accents to the eyes of the two fish for a bit of shine and dimension. I glued the fish in place. For the sentiment, I used SImon Says STAMP's Best Fishes stamp set.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch in our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #565

It's Family Day here so it means a long weekend! Woohoo! Almost forgot to post our new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Here's my card

For my card, I started with the patterned papers. I picked four papers from a 6x6 paper pad. One, I used for the top horizontal strip, the other three, I cut into fish-tail banners of varying widths. I used a thin strip of both dark gray and green for the horizontal strips to cover the tops of the fish-tail banners. I glued them onto a natural A2 card base. For the flowers and leaves, I picked some cardstock scraps and die cut using Paper Smooches' Flowers, Reflections Flowers, Foliage 1 and Pocket die sets. I arranged the leaves and flowers and glued them in place. I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments stamp set and PinkFresh Studio's Slumber ink.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch. Add your cards to our gallery.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #259

I love sitting at my craft table and playing with paper, scissors and glue when it's raining outside. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we get a lot of rain. Yeah me!

It's time for a new challenge at AAA Cards

Here's my card

For my card, I chose to go with the Optional Twist of Birthday. I could always use more birthday cards. For the one layer card, I started with a white A2 card base. I stamped the candles using Stamps of Life's Candles 4 Birthdays stamp set and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers - B24, BG15, BV13, G07, R17, RV23, V05, Y15, Y17, YG06, YR04. I stamped the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental stamp set to complete my one-layer card.

We'd love to see your clean and simple (CAS) cards in our gallery. It's your option to make a birthday card or not.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #252

Where does the time go? It's already time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS. This time our challenge is

Here's my one-layer card

For my card, I chose to focus on triangles. I started by masking off a 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" area on a white A2 card base. Then, I used PinkFresh Studio's Overlapping Triangles (4 pc) stencil and distress inks (twisted citron, cracked pistachio, mowed lawn, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon) applied with oval ink blending brushes to add the triangles. Before removing the mask, I added some tumbled glass distress ink to help define the "zone" of color. Otherwise, I felt that the triangles would be floating randomly. For the sentiment, I used Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments and Versafine Onyx Black ink.

We'd love to see your take on our code word "GEOMETRIC". Please add your clean and simple cards in our gallery.

Die Cut Divas ~ February Challenge

The sponsor for the February challenge at Die Cut Divas is Hero Arts. They will be giving our winner a $25 gift card to their online store.

The February challenge is

NON-TRADITIONAL VALENTINES CARDS

Here is my card

For my card, I used the coordinating Hero Arts' products Color Layering Bee Floral Stencils and Bee Floral Window Fancy Die. To make my card even more non-traditional Valentine, I used yellows and greens - distress inks: mustard seed, wild honey, mowed lawn, pine needle, black soot applied with oval ink blending brushes with the layering stencils. I die cut the panel using the coordinating window die. I stamped the main sentiment from an old Hero Arts' stamp set called Year Round Sentiment, on light blue cardstock to show through the window. I also made a small smudge on the bottom of the panel so I covered it up with a yellow strip stamped with a sentiment using CTMH's Say It All Stampaganza 2017 stamp set. I adhered the light blue cardstock behind the white panel and then adhered it to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your non-traditional Valentine's Day cards in our gallery this month.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #461

Ready for the second challenge of 2024 at Addicted to Stamps and More! Here it is.

Here's my card

For my card, I was inspired by Virginia Lu. I believe that she is the person who has enabled me the most. Thanks Virginia! LOL!

For my card, I used Altenew's Sentimental Florals stamp set. I started by heat embossing the main image on a dark blue A2 card panel with white embossing powder. I also heat embossed the main image on some white cardstock with white embossing powder. To the images on the white cardstock, I added color with distress inks (carved pumpkin, picked raspberry, wilted violet, twisted citron, mermaid lagoon) applied with Ranger's Detail Blending Tools. I then fussy cut the blooms and leaves and glued them over the corresponding images on the dark blue panel. For the sentiment, I used Altenew's Sweetest Peas stamp set and heat embossed it also with white embossing powder.

We hope that you'll be adding your creations for Make Your Mark in our gallery this fortnight.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #640

For me, there is not much better than paper crafting. On those dark and rainy days, here in the Pacific Northwest, I just love playing with paper and glue. If you're looking for some inspiration, we have a new challenge at Try A Sketch on Tuesday

Here's my card

For my card, I started with a 4 1/4" square white cardstock panel and a circle mask that I created from a large post-it note and a Sizzix circle die. I placed the mask on the cardstock and added color in the center with distress inks (picked raspberry, wilted violet, blueprint sketch) with oval ink blending brushes. I carefully removed the mask and added Perfect Pearls to the inked area. I then passed the panel with the We R Memory Keepers Next Level - Geometric embossing folder through my BigShot. I used a strip of purple cardstock from my stash to stamp the sentiment using Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments stamp set. I used a Memory Box Cherub Heart die to die cut the pink heart. I glued the pieces in place and adhered the panel to a white 4 1/4" square card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch. You can show us by adding your creation to our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #563

Happy Monday! It's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here it is

Here is my card

I just love rainbow clouds. The colors just make me so happy. So for this card, I made a vertical strip of clouds in rainbow color order. I used Simon Says STAMP's Clouds for Days and Slimline Floral stencils and distress inks - wilted violet, picked raspberry, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn, peacock feathers, blueprint sketch; applied with oval ink blending brushes. I used Lavinia Stamp's Birds stamp to stamp the flock of birds. For the sentiment, I used My Favorite Things' Blissful Butterflies stamp set and Concord & 9th's Dove ink. I used a Sizzix circle die to die cut the sentiment. To help the sentiment circle die cut pop a bit, I added a bright pink mat die cut with a Spellbinders' Scalloped Circle die. I used a scrap of dark gray for the fishtail banner. I glued all the pieces in place and adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see how you were inspired by our sketch by adding your card to our gallery.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #258

There is something very calming and relaxing about clean and simple (CAS) cards. I guess that's why I enjoy making them so much. Don't get me wrong, the multi-layer or mixed media or other non-CAS cards can be beautiful and stunning. It's just not me.

So, if you're like me or want to try something different, we have a new challenge at AAA Cards for you.

Here is my one-layer card

For my card, I started by masking off an area 1 1/2" x 5 1/8" and a white A2 card base. Using my Wendy Vecchi's Make Art STAY-tion, my STAMPlorations Placid stencil and distress inks (cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, salty ocean, mermaid lagoon) applied with oval ink blending brushes, I added the "column" of color. I randomly stamped the fish, as well as the sentiment, using Simon Says STAMP's Best Fishes stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink to complete my card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch by adding your creation in our gallery.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #251

Hello Crafty Friends! I'm back with a new challenge at Addicted to CAS

Here's my card

For my card, I created some papers using 96 lb bristol, distress oxides (peacock feathers, picked raspberry, wilted violet) and some water. I smooshed the distress oxides on a plastic place mat and spritzed with some water. I placed the bristol in the puddle of ink to transfer some ink. I heat set and repeated until I achieved a mottled look. I repeated the process with each of the distress inks. When completely dried, I die cut using a Memory Box's Cherub Hearts die. For the sentiment strip, I heat embossed using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages and silver embossing powder on a scrap of gray cardstock. I die cut the sentiment strip using a My Favorite Things Skinny Strips die. I glued the pieces in place on a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your "HEART" creations in our gallery.
