Time Out Challenge ~ Challenge #163

When I saw the current challenge at Time Out Challenges, I just knew that I wanted to join in. The challenge is

Here's my card

I started with STAMPlorations' ARTplorations Flowers 1 stencil and distress inks (ripe persimmon and mustard seed). I used a small oval make up brush to apply the ink. The actual stencil has the blooms at the top and stems at the bottom. I just wanted the blooms. So I added some more blooms at the bottom by moving the stencil down. The sentiment seemed to match the inspiration quote so perfectly. It's a stamp by STAMPlorations' called Typografia Thankful - Gratitude is the Blossom. I stamped it with my MISTI and Versafine Onyx black ink to be sure that I was able to get a good impression.

Mod Squad Challenge: Watercolor Stamping

Watercolor stamping is one of my favorite techniques. When I saw the current challenge at Mod Squad Challenge, I knew that I had to join in

CHALLENGE

Watercolor Stamping – The challenge this week is to do some watercolor stamping! This is a technique in which you color your stamp with water based inks, huff on the stamp or spritz with water, and then stamp on your paper. You can use water based markers, watercolors, inks, applied with a water brush or paint brush. You MUST use this technique for your creation.
Here's my card

I started with Stampin' Up's Artistically Asian stamp set. I inked up the stamp with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (Scarlet Red and Pale Dawn Gray) and spritzed with water before stamping onto an A2 watercolor paper panel. I used a paper towel sheet to pick up the extra water. For the sentiment, I used Waffle Flower's Konnichiwa stamp set. I trimmed the watercolor paper panel and double matted with black and green.

The Paper Players - Challenge #494

When I saw the current challenge at The Paper Players,

I knew what I wanted to do. I was going to focus on the raindrops. I just wasn't sure that I'd be able to "find" a specific stamp. Believe it or not, it was where I thought it was. Trust me, that doesn't happen very often! LOL!

Here's my card

For the background, I smooshed some distress inks (tumbled glass, salty ocean, broken china) onto a 3"x4" acrylic block and spritzed some water on the block before placing the block on an A2 panel of 96 lb bristol. I carefully lifted the block and picked up the extra liquid with a paper towel. I liked how it turned out. There are some "spots" that mimic raindrops. I then stamped my main image using Great Impressions' When It Rains stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Of course, the stamped image was crooked. Darn! I decided to stamp the image onto a scrap of white cardstock and added color with Copic markers (BG05, G05, R05, V06, Y17, YR04). I trimmed the image and adhered it to my nice "water-y" background. Sometimes, we need to improvise!

Retro Rubber Challenge #136 - Summer Time!

So excited to join the current challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog

RRCB 136

Here's my card

For my card, I started by masking a 1.5" area with post-it tape. I stamped various cold treats using Avery Elle's Cool Treats. This stamp set came out in 2017 and I bought it during the summer of 2018. I added some background color with distress inks (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, picked raspberry) and then carefully removed the post-it tape. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. Originally, this was going to be a one-layer card. However, when I stamped the sentiment, it was not straight. So, time to improvise, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of pink cardstock and make a small banner, which I adhered on the "crooked" sentiment.

Paper Smooches: June 1-14 FLOWERS Challenge

I was sad to hear that Kim, owner of Paper Smooches is retiring. I love her products and I guess it's time to stock up. I wish her the best in her retirement from her store. The current challenge at the Paper Smooches blog is

Here's my card

I love having another way to use my collection of patterned papers. I looked through my stash for blue and green patterned papers for the flowers and the border and green patterned paper for the leaves. I stamped the flowers and leaves using Paper Smooches' Twiggy Florets. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves. I then stamped the flowers onto a A2 white panel. I then adhered the fussy cut flowers and leaves to the images. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. To complete the card, I trimmed the white panel, adhered it to an A2 white card base and I added the 0.75" border to complete the card.

Sketch Saturday: Week #613

I love working with card sketches. I'm not sure why I haven't stopped by Sketch Saturday before now. I think that I'll have to stop by more often. Here is this week's sketch

I'll admit it. I wasn't sure what to do with the corners of the central panel. That was, until I saw this card by Leslie Turner

DSCF5811

Photo corners - that would work for this sketch! Thanks Leslie. Here's my card

I started with STAMPlorations' Framed Dogwood stamp which I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on some white cardstock. I added color with Copics R11, RV23, YG03. I added C2 to the "white space" of the inked panel. I made some photo corners with scraps of black cardstock and my crop-o-dile. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations' The BIrds and the Blooms stamp set, stamped onto a scrap of pink cardstock.

Stay Crafty With Hero Challenge #9

I just recently found a new card challenge Stay Crafty With Hero on the Hero Arts blog. Since I have quite the collection of Hero Arts products, I thought that I'd join in. The challenge this week is a sketch challenge

Here's my card

I saw that I would need several patterned papers, so I chose to start with a 6x6 paper pack (unfortunately, I can't remember which one)! I love working with 6x6 paper packs because the papers work together. I chose five patterned papers and cut them according to the sketch. Instead of a star, I stamped the large flower from Hero Arts Happy Mother's Day stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I fussy cut the flower. I decided to leave the flower white, in contrast with all the colored patterned papers. I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Color Layering Hydrangea stamp set.
