AAA Cards: CAS Game #108

Seeing that Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I guess it's not surprising that the current challenges have been focusing on hearts, love, Valentine's Day. The current challenge at AAA Cards is once such challenge

Here's my card

I made this one layer card starting with some masking paper die cut with roughly a 2 5/8" heart. I stamped small flowers from Hero Arts Spring Hello by Lia and Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia using Hero Arts inks - Ultra Pink, Strawberry, Pale Tomato, Bubble Gum). I carefully removed the mask. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP All About Love stamp set with Versamark ink, silver embossing powder and heat set.

CAS(E) this Sketch #257

Don't you love it when you see a sketch and instantly, you know what you want to do? It does't happen often to me. When the inspiration hits, my main dilemma is "can I find that stamp set"? This time - yes! I actually found the stamp set. WOOHOO!

Here's this week's sketch

Here's my card

Using Stampin' Up's vellum, I inked up Hero Arts Tall Flowers cling stamp set with Versamark ink and gold embossing powder, which I heat set. I added colour on the reverse side of the vellum with Copics. The sentiment was also gold embossed and is from Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Thank You stamp set. I matted the sentiment strip with gold cardstock.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #250

Congrats to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge on reaching 250 posts! WOOHOO! In honour of this milestone, I'm playing along with the "even number" team as I'm regularly a member of the "odd number" team.

Here's the sketch

I decided to use an American Crafts 6x6 paper pack. I chose three printed papers and cut out the pieces. To further emphasize the diagonal lines and the horizontal line, I added some gold cord. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set. I punched out the sentiment with a 1.5" punch and matted it with gold cardstock, punched with Stampin' Up's scalloped circle punch. I found some gold coloured ribbon, tied into a bow to complete the card.

a2z Scrapbooking - February 5th post

Time sure flies by. I can't believe that it's my turn to be up at a2z Scrapbooking. This month I chose to work with a digital stamp set. I find that it's easiest for me to open the digital stamp set, copy  (Ctrl C) the stamp and paste (Ctrl V) onto a MS Word document. I can adjust the size of the stamp and then print it on cardstock with my inkjet printer. Through trial and error, I have found that Copics work best to add color. I find that my water-based markers make the inkjet ink bleed. So, I added color on the balloons with Copics. I matted the balloons panel and the sentiment panel with colored cardstock.

AAA Cards - CAS Game # 107 - Chilled

I guess I shouldn't complain about our winter weather here in the Pacific Northwest. It's wet - at least it's not snow and ice, or sub-zero temperatures like people elsewhere face. When I saw the current challenge at AAA Cards, I couldn't resist.

Here's my card

I started with The Alley Way's Chill Out stamp set. I selected this snowman and stamped him with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added colour with Copic markers. I cut a mask of the snowman from a post-it note and masked the snowman when I added the subtle background colours (distress inks - picked raspberry, seedless preserves, faded jeans). I stamped "off" a few times to ensure the lightness of the background. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I added some sparkle with Nuvo Glitter drops. Here's a close-up.

Less is More Challenge #363

I can certainly get used to this thing called retirement. I'm loving all the 'extra" time I'm having at my craft table. Really wanted to join in the fun at Less is More where the challenge is

Here's my card

I mean, how could I resist when the inspiration is "cute"? I love The Alley Way stamps because so many of them were cute. I wish the company still was "open" for business. I used their Stomper stamp set, choosing the large t-rex. I stamped him with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him with copic markers. I added some glossy accents on his eyes. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

House of Cards - February Challenge

Can you believe it? It's February. Which of course means, that it's time for a new challenge at House of Cards

Create a Valentine Background and/or Colors

Here's my card

I chose to focus on the colours - the variety of shades of pink while at the same time creating a Valentine-inspired background. I used Stampin' Up's Decorative Mask - Hearts and added distress ink (spun sugar, worn lipstick, picked raspberry) with ink blending tools. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP set All About Love for the "LOVE" and Simon Says STAMP You stamp set for the "you", which were stamped with Hero Arts Bubble Gum and Charcoal inks, respectively.

We'd love to see what you create for this challenge. Won't you join us?
