It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! This week, the challenge is

Just a reminder - Clean and Simple (CAS) refers to cards that have clean and crisp lines, minimal or no embellishments and lots of 'white' space. White space doesn't need to be white - it can be any color. However, white space refers to areas of your card with no stamping or embellishments.

Here's my card

For this card, I started by creating a circle mask using a 4" x 6" repositionable label and Sizzix circle dies. I also made the flower mask using a 3" x 3" post it note and My Favorite Things Die-namics Flower and Leaf Trio dies. I used salty ocean distress ink, applied with an ink blending tool and carefully removed the flower mask. I added the sentiment from Clear Besotted Flowers and Flourishes stamp set with Hero Arts Navy ink. I added an enamel dot in the center of the flower to complete the card.

CAS(E) this Sketch! # 218 and Less is More #393

Finally, I'm able to post my card to various challenges, before the deadline. Does that ever happen to you. You see a card challenge, get inspired, make the card and then life happens and you don't post the card, before the challenge closes. All.the.time!

Well, not today! Yippee!

I have a card for the current challenges at CAS(E) this Sketch and Less is More.

I started with a piece of vellum and heat embossed with white embossing powder, the Impression Obsession Cover-A-Card Flourishes stamp. I added color, on the reverse side of the vellum using direct to paper (vellum) technique with Hero Arts cornflower, tide pool, lime green. I cut a strip, 5.5" x 2" and adhered it in the center of an A2 card base. For the sentiment, I die cut a banner, using Simon Says STAMP's Small Folded Banners. I used my MISTI to position the sentiment stamp from Hero Arts Layered Topiary, stamped with Hero Arts Charcoal ink onto the banner. I folded the banner and to add some height, I used dimensional adhesive.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #313

Hello! My days are all mixed up after the Easter long weekend. I usually post my Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge card on Mondays. Darn, I'm a day late.

There is a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Here's my card

I took a few liberties with my card. I was inspired by the triangle on the sketch and "stretched" that into a double triangle fun fold card. 

Once I figured out how to cut and fold the card base, I covered the lower right triangle with some tone-on-tone gray patterned paper. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Big Scripty Greeting, stamped with Hero Arts Charcoal ink. To add some color, I stamped some flowers from Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia and Hero Arts Spring Hello by Lia stamp sets using Hero Arts inks (green hills, fresh peach, butter bar) to both the sentiment circle and inside the card, under the bottom right triangle. I die cut the circle using Sizzix circle dies and added a scalloped mat using Spellbinders scalloped circles die.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with an A2 kraft cardstock panel. I stamped the image from STAMPlorations IN BLOOM: Charmed Cherry Blossoms with Versamark, applied gold embossing powder and heat set the image. The sentiment is also heat set with gold embossing powder. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations Hello Coffee stamp set. I added colour with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. I trimmed the kraft panel slightly and matted with a light pink cardstock.

Cherry blossoms are a very welcomed sign of Spring after a long and dreary winter.

It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! The challenge this week is

A "Make Your Mark" challenge is one where your entry MUST contain the use of anything that can make a mark - Stampin' Write, Copics, Promarkers, Painting, Chalks, Watercolours, Sponges, Stencils, Masks etc. etc.

Here's my card

This is a one-layer card. I masked off a 1.75" horizontal strip with post-it tape. I added colour with ink blending tools and distress inks (salty ocean, mowed lawn) applied to represent the sky and grass. I removed the post-it tape and stamped the image from Stampin' Up's Lovely as a Tree stamp set. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Thank You stamp set.

When I think of Spring, I think of daffodils (aka narcissus). The bright yellow color is a welcomed splash of color after a dreary winter.

I started with STAMPlorations' The Birds an the Blooms stamp set. I stamped the double daffodils multiple times with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, making a "C" around the card panel. I left the space on the right side for the sentiment, from the same stamp set stamped with Hero Arts Soft Granite ink. I added the color to the daffodils, using Copic markers. I used similar colors as a Narcissus Orange Progress. I matted the panel with yellow.

I used to work for the Vancouver Park Board in Stanley Park and learned that daffodils are not all the same and are not all yellow! Who knew?

AAA Cards: CAS Game #137

I saw the current challenge at AAA Cards and just knew I had to participate.

I was intrigued by the "time limit" challenge. I had not previously ever timed myself. I sadly was in need of a sympathy card for a former co-worker.

I started with Couture Creations' Exotic embossing folder and dry embossed a white A2 panel. I trimmed the panel to 4" x 3.75". I added some black grosgrain ribbon and a "fake" bow to the bottom of the panel. By "fake" bow, I mean that I cut a 2.5" piece of ribbon and angled both ends of the piece. I looped around the small piece with a longer piece of ribbon to make it look like a bow. I adhered the embossed panel and ribbon to an A2 card base. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP's Flower Friend stamp set.

I timed my efforts -12.5 minutes. Not bad, eh?
