Die Cut Divas ~ November Challenge

Welcome to my blog. There's a new challenge at Die Cut Divas. The theme for our November challenge is "THANKS or THANKSGIVING". This month's challenge is sponsored by Frantic Stamper

Here's my card

I started by randomly inking up some white cardstock with distress oxides - spiced marmalade, fossilized amber, ripe persimmon, vintage photo and fired brick. I then die cut the "thank you" using My Favorite Things Die-Namics Thank You dies, which at last check were still available at Frantic Stamper. I used a natural A2 card panel and added some pumice stone distress ink in the center of the panel. I stamped a few foliage outlines using Hero Arts Flowers for Coloring stamp set and spiced marmalade and fossilized amber distress inks to frame the center of the panel. I adhered the letters within the frame formed by the foliage outlines. To complete the card, I trimmed it down slightly to mat with burnt sienna cardstock and I added a few sequins for a bit of shine.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #506

 It's time for a new challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.

Here's my card

I've been enjoying the beautiful colors of fall and this color challenge of yellow, orange, red reminded me of the gorgeous fall leaves. For my card, I started with watercolor paper, trimmed to an A2 size. I stamped leaves using Altenew's With Gratitude stamp set and Antique Linen distress ink. I added yellow, orange and red using Michael's Artist's Loft watercolor paints and a water brush. I liked how if the paint was "watered down" enough, the veins of the leaves would show through. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Flower Friend stamp set and Hero Arts Butter Bar, Orange Soda and Strawberry inks. I trimmed the panel down slightly and matted with orange to complete the card.

25 Days of Christmas Tags ~ STAMPlorations

I'm very excited to be sharing my tag and representing STAMPlorations at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Here's my tag

I started by die cutting the tag using STAMPlorations CUTplorations Tags #1 Nesting Dies from kraft cardstock. I then stamped the evergreen bough repeatedly using STAMPlorations Christmas Bell Medley stamp set and Hero Arts Emerald Green ink. I then rubbed my anti-static bag over the tag and heat embossed with silver embossing powder the Christmas ornament (three times) as well as the sentiment, using the same Christmas Bell Medley stamp set. To complete the tag, I used a ruler and silver gel pen for the ornament strings and added some silver cord.

Optional theme: wreath/foliage

Here's my card

For this card, I used Paper Smooches' Holly dies to die cut the holly leaves from a selection of green cardstock and used a regular hole punch and some red cardstock for the berries. I tried to "eyeball" a wreath, adhering the holly leaves into what I thought was a circle - WRONG! I die cut a circle using Sizzix circle dies from a light kraft cardstock and stamped the sentiment in the center using Catherine Pooler's Here We Come-A-Caroling stamp set and Hero Arts strawberry ink. I then tried again, this time, adhering the holly leaves and berries to the circle, arranged around the sentiment. This was much better! I found a scrap of tone on tone patterned paper for the fish-tail banner. I used a light green and the same light kraft cardstock for the background.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #393

Happy Monday to you! It's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here is this week's sketch

Here's my version of the sketch

When I saw the sketch, I thought of a sunrise (or sunset). I started with My Favorite Things Sun Ray stencil and added distress inks - mustard seed and squeezed lemonade. For the sentiment, I found a scrap strip of dark gray and stamped the sentiment using Technique Tuesday's Bring On the Sun stamp set. 

What I love about sketches, is that you can make it as simple or as embellished as you like. It's how you "see" the sketch.

Cupcake Inspirations ~ Challenge #505 Reminder Post

It seems like just yesterday that I posted about Challenge #505 at Cupcake Inspirations

However, it has already been a week! I have this feeling that time is going to speed up from now until Christmas. Yikes - I have so much to do. Guess it's time to start my list of things to do before Christmas.

I stamped this super cute monster from Your Next Stamp's Way Cool Monsters stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Before I started added color to the monster, I found a strip of striped patterned paper that I was going to use - it's Basic Grey Oh Baby Boy. I've been hoarding this paper for so long. It's time to use it - right? I used the colors from this paper to add color to the monster. I used Copic markers - B12, R22, YG03, YR04. I used My Favorite Things Die-namics Stitched Circles STAX to die cut the monster, holding his sign. I added googly eyes (of different sizes, of course) to my monster. I adhered everything to a blue A2 card panel.

Isn't this a beautiful color? Here's my card

For my card, I went through some of my 6x6 paper packs and selected patterned paper that was blue/sapphire. I was specifically looking for tone on tone patterned paper. I cut the paper into strips - where the long edges were not parallel. I wanted a bit of an organic look rather than straight parallel strips of patterned paper. I adhered the strips to a dark blue A2 card panel. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Script Thanks die.
