Muse Card Challenge #131

Here's Carol Mayne's card



I never joined the "feather" craze (or at least haven't yet - LOL!). So, I looked through my stamps to try to find something that would work. I also chose a STAMPlorations set - this one because some of the leaf images had some writing and designs on them, like the feathers that Carol used.

I inked up each leaf with one colour and then added a second colour (I want to say strategically, but it really was more randomly). Seeing that we're in September, I chose to use autumn-like colours.

I chose a sentiment with some cursive writing, similar to Carol's card.

I'm working at not being so literal with my interpretations of the Muse cards. How did I do?

Stampin' Celebration Challenge SC111

For the background panel, I applied distress ink (twisted citron and peacock feathers)with ink blending tools. I then brushed on some perfect pearls (pewter) to add some shine. Here's a close-up

I made a watercolour panel using distress inks (picked raspberry, peacock feathers and seedless preserves). 

Used this Unity Stamp stamp for the sentiment. Added a couple of flowers to finish it off.

Essentials by Ellen August Pin-Sights Challenge

I love these bright colours. I made some watercolour panels using mustard seed and picked raspberry distress inks. I cut out flowers using this Ellen Hutson die set.

I chose to also cut out the flowers from dark gray cardstock and paper pieced the watercolour pieces into the flower.

House of Cards September Challenge

Hmm - stitches either real or faux. Well, I've not (yet) tried sewing on my cards, so I decided to work faux stitches onto my card. I searched around - looking for inspiration. I found an idea that I had to try - denim.

Start with a SU Night of Navy stamp pad and using direct to paper technique, move the stamp pad in one direction (say lengthwise) and then move the stamp pad perpendicular to the first direction (now widthwise). I used a light blue cardstock to start. It's quite startling how much it really looks like denim. I "made" a few sheets of denim paper - one of which I cut into a pocket. I found that I needed to add a thin matte to make the pocket stand out. I added some faux stitches to mimic a jeans pocket. I felt that it needed a bit more, so I cut out a flourish (MFT) from silver paper. To make it "Levi-like", I added a small red "thanks" tag to complete the card. I left the top of the pocket open, so that the pocket could be used as a gift card holder.
