Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge

OK - we've made it to February. Hoping we'll slowly get back to normal, if we even remember what normal was like. We have a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge where our challenge is always

Here's my card

For our challenge, you don't have to be an accomplished watercolour artist to join us - just use water somewhere &/or somehow on your card. For my card, I started with an A2 panel of Strathmore 140 lb watercolour paper. I masked off the borders with washi tape (yippee, I found a use for washi tape - LOL! I added color with distress inks (twisted citron, mowed lawn, peacock feathers) applied with oval brushes in a random pattern. I spritzed the inked panel with water, using a paper towel to pick up excess puddles of water. When the panel was dry, I stamped the twig with leaves using Paper Smooches' Reflections stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink several times in different orientations. For the sentiment, I used PinkFresh Studio's Scripted Greetings die set and vellum for the background and a scrap of teal cardstock for the outline.

We'd love to see your creations where you incorporate water somehow onto your card.

Die Cut Divas ~ Last Chance to Play with our January Challenge

Hello Die Cut Divas friends. For the month of January, our sponsor is

Rachel Vass Designs will be giving our winner, three digital stamps.

Our January challenge is

FLOWERS

Here's my card

When I saw Rachel Vass Designs' Bulbs of Flowers digital stamp, I knew that it was one I wanted to add to my collection. Of course, the pun-ny sentiment helped me make my choice. I love pun-ny sentiments! I sized this digital stamp and printed it with my inkjet printer onto cardstock. I added color to the flowers, leaves and stems with Copic markers - C3, G94, R22, R32. V15, V17, Y15. For the water in the bulb, I could have used a light blue Copic marker. Instead, I made a mask using some printer paper. I traced over the bulb and cut it out from the printer paper. I taped it in place with some washi tape and added tumbled glass distress ink, applied with an oval brush. I printed the sentiment and cut it into a double fish tail banner and popped it up with dimensionals when adhering it to the central panel. I used Waffle Flower A2 Layers dies for the main panel and black mat. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

There are several hours before our challenge ends. We'd love for you to join us.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday ~ Challenge #540

We have a new challenge for you at Try Stampin' On Tuesday. For the next twelve days, the challenge will be

Here's my card

I obviously did not make a monochromatic card - LOL! I simply followed the sketch. I started out by die cutting a circle from white cardstock using a Sizzix circle die. I then stamped some birthday symbols using STAMPlorations Party Mates stamp set onto the circle, with Versafine Onyx Black. To make it more festive, I created masks with a ek success 3/8" circle punch and post it notes. I then added some color with distress inks (mowed lawn, peacock feathers, salty ocean, twisted citron, squeezed lemonade, carved pumpkin, abandoned coral, wilted violet) and the post it note masks. For the balloons, I used scraps of cardstock that matched three of the dots and die cut them using Paper Smooches Balloons and My Favorite Things Birthday Wishes & Balloons dies. For the balloons string, I used some upholstery thread. For the sentiment, I stamped it using Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentiment and die cut using My Favorite Things Skinny Strips dies. I adhered the pieces to a light gray A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch or to see your monochromatic card or both!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #457

It's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch

Going to be honest. This sketch wasn't easy for me. Here's my card

I flipped through my stencils hoping for some inspiration. I picked out Hero Arts Deco Pattern Stencil. I think it looks like ginkgo leaves and what do you know? I have a ginkgo die cut. OK - going to see if I can put these things together. I started by using the stencil on some white cardstock and adding twisted citron and mowed lawn distress inks, applied with oval brushes. I trimmed the panel down to 2" x 4.75". I inked up some white cardstock with the same distress inks I used with the stencil - twisted citron and mowed lawn because I didn't have any cardstock that matched. I used CC Designs' Ginkgo Leaf die and this inked up white cardstock to die cut three leaves. They, however were missing something. They were too plain so I added some colored pencil lines using a dark green Prismacolor Premier colored pencil to mimic the ridges of the leaf. I was happier now. For the sentiment, I stamped using Mint Owl Studio's Banner Sentiments stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink onto some more of the inked up white cardstock. I die cut the stamped sentiment using a My Favorite Things Stitched Square STAX die. I assembled the pieces onto a light gray A2 card panel and then adhered it to a white A2 card base to complete the card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by this week's sketch.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #212

It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS. This challenge is

Here's my card

For the code word "triangles", I dusted off my Stampin' Up Petite Pennants' Builder punch. I also pulled out my Stampin' Up's 2010-12 In Color 6x6 Designer Series Paper and pulled out three papers with the same pattern - green, red, purple. I punched out a bunch of triangles, arranged them and adhered them on a natural A2 card base. For the sentiment, I die cut using Simon Says STAMP's Just Words No. 1 die set, one in gray and two in black. I stacked the die cuts and adhered them together and then to the card, to complete the card.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our "triangles" code word.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #421

Have you put away your Christmas crafting stuff? I'm not very good at putting things away. I just keep piling things up until basically, the pile falls over and then I tidy up (a bit!). We have a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Here's the one layer card I made with one of my new stamp sets.

I managed to grab the Simon Says STAMP/Clearly Besotted's STAMPtember 2021 Magical Christmas stamp set. I stamped this scene with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a white A2 card base. I added color with Copic markers - B00, B12, B93, C2, C3, R32, V15, Y02, YG06. I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner using the stamp from the same stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I feel like I'm looking at this winter scene through a porthole of a ship! It kind of makes me smile - thinking about that. Maybe this is the North Pole, where Santa lives.

We'd love to see your "Make Your Mark" card.

Perfectly CAS ~ January 2022Challenge

Happy New Year to my Perfectly CAS friends. We have a new challenge to start off 2022 for you. This month, it's

What a great theme for our challenge. It sure beats all the rain and snow we've been having this winter. Here's my card

I decided to be bold with my colors. I used Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Roses and distress inks (carved pumpkin, ripe persimmon, mowed lawn) applied with oval brushes. To try to minimize the overlap of color (which I wasn't totally successful at), I used scraps of paper to try to control where I was applying color. I trimmed the panel to 2.5" x 2.5". I matted with black cardstock. I decided to put the square on point, just for something different for me. I adhered it to a white A2 card base. For the sentiment, I used a scrap of orange cardstock and Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental stamp set. I popped the sentiment stripe up with dimensionals.

We'd love to see your flower creations. Looking forward to Spring!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #455

Hi Friends! I'm still not back "on schedule" after the Christmas holidays. Oh well. Hoping I get back on track soon. It's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's our sketch

Here's my card

Can you handle another Christmas card? Well, I'm working on next Christmas' stash of cards. For this card, I used Catherine Pooler's Peppermint Stick background stamp and Hero Arts Pale Tomato ink which I stamped onto a white A2 card panel. For the lower right corner, I started by die cutting a circle from white cardstock using a Sizzix circle die. I heat embossed the sentiment, using Hero Arts Ornament Stamp & Cut set and silver embossing powder. I used a Spellbinders scalloped circle die to die cut the scalloped circle which I used to mat the white circle. For the tree, I used Simon Says STAMP's Line Trees die set, some silver cardstock and some scraps of green cardstock. I chose not to add enamel dots because I like to keep my cards pretty flat for mailing.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch this week.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday ~ Challenge #538

Happy New Year to the Try Stampin' On Tuesday friends and any other crafty friends who might have dropped by. We have a new challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday which will run for the next twelve (or so) days.

Here's my take on the sketch

I was looking for something that reminded me of Spring. I am pretty tired of winter! I used Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Flowers stencil. I added color with distress inks (peacock feathers, cracked pistachio and mowed lawn, applied with oval brushes on a panel of white cardstock. I trimmed the cardstock to 2.25" x 4.25". I looked through my scraps of cardstock and found some tone on tone patterned paper in teal and green colors. I cut 1.25" x 0.5" strips from each. For the sentiment, I used My Favorite Things' Itty Bitty Basics, stamped onto a scrap of teal cardstock which I also trimmed to 1.25" x 0.5". I adhered everything to a light teal A2 card panel and then adhered it to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your interpretation of this sketch.

Die Cut Divas ~ Flowers with Rachel Vass Designs

Hello Die Cut Divas friends. For the month of January, our sponsor is

Rachel Vass Designs will be giving our winner, three digital stamps.

Our January challenge is

FLOWERS

Here's my card

For this card, I used Rachel Vass Designs' Spring Delight Border. I sized the digital stamp and printed it with my inkjet printer. I added color with Copic markers - G94, R17, YG63, YG67, YR16. I went with some bright and bold colors which help on this gloomy rainy day! I didn't add a sentiment as I feel that I could use it in many situations. I'll just wait for the "right" one. I trimmed the panel with a die from Waffle Flowers A2 Layers die. For the black border, I die cut some black cardstock with the next size up from the Waffle Flowers A2 Layers die set and adhered the floral panel to it. I adhered this to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your floral creations.

Happy Little Stampers ~ Stencil Challenge January 2022

Happy New Year! We have a new challenge for you at Happy Little Stampers ~ Stencil Challenge. Our challenge is always

Here's my card

Have you tried layering stencils? Many companies now sell them. You receive several stencils for the same image - each stencil is for specific layers/colors. For my card, I used Gina K's Bold Flowers Layering Stencils. There are three stencils in this set - for stencil 1, I used mustard seed and carved pumpkin distress inks; for stencil 2, I used peacock feathers and black soot distress inks; for stencil 3, I used bundled sage distress ink. For the sentiment, I die cut the hello using Gina K's A Little Hello die set from a scrap of black cardstock. I love how swoopy the sentiment is.

Hoping you can find some crafty time to make a stencil creation to share with us this month.

Happy 2022! After the last two years, this year HAS to be better, right? Wishing you good health, much happiness and joy this coming year.

We're starting off 2022 with a new challenge

Here's my card

I couldn't resist the opportunity to include the optional twist of RAINBOW on my card. Who doesn't love rainbow colors? For my card, I started with a white A2 card panel. I placed Post-it tape around the edges to mask off that area, exposing a 2.25" x 3.5" rectangle. I added color (in rainbow order) using distress inks - barn door, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn and peacock feathers, applied with an ink blending tool. I carefully removed the Post-it tape. I added the sentiment, using a clear sticker from STAMPlorations CRAFTplorations Just Thank You Clear Sticker pack. On a scrap of white cardstock, I stamped STAMPlorations In Bloom: Floral Bliss Trio with Versafine Onxy Black ink. I then fussy cut the image and adhered it to my card panel. I like the contrast between the brightly colored background and the stark black and white floral arrangement. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

To check out more of the gorgeous STAMPlorations products, you can do that here. Also, please use my 20% off your purchase code STAMPGIRLSUE

Happy Little Stampers ~ Christmas Challenge

What? Didn't we just celebrate Christmas? Yup, we did. Hope you had a great Christmas. Maybe it's too early to think about next Christmas, but maybe not! We have a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers ~ Christmas Challenge.

Here's my card. I actually was asked to make a set of 6 of these cards for a friend who then sent them out!

For this card, I used Waffle Flower's Fa-la-la stamp set. I stamped the carolers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a white A2 card base. Before cleaning the stamp, I stamped (2nd generation) onto a large post-it note. I fussy cut the post-it note to make a mask. I added color to the carolers with Copic markers - C2, C5, E29, E40, E41, G07, G14, R11, R29, R32, Y11. I masked off the carolers and a strip at the bottom and added tumbled glass and salty ocean distress inks for the sky background. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set on the bottom with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I trimmed the panel slightly and matted with black cardstock before adhering it to a white A2 card base to complete the Christmas card.

We'd love to see your Christmas card creations.
