Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge; Sketch #219

Totally love sketch challenges. Getting a bit better at being a little more creative and less "strictly by the rules". In case you can't guess, I'm a rule-follower. It's difficult to push myself "outside the box". It's a work in progress.

Here's my card (it's a bit bright, you might need some sunglasses!)

Anyone else a fan of Doodlebug Design papers? I love all the happy colours! I used papers from their Hello Sunshine 6x6 paper pack. I used some turquoise grosgrain ribbon. The sentiment is stamped from Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set and the scallop was cut using Stampin' Up's Scalloped circle punch.

AAA Cards: CAS Game #93 - Words Take Centre Stage

I was intrigued by the current challenge at AAA Cards



Here's my card

I looked for a stamp that had lots of words and a great message. I chose the CAS-ual Fridays Dream Then Do stamp set. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark, sprinkled WOW! - Rose Gold embossing powder and heat set the panel. Have you tried Rose Gold embossing powder? It's awesome - loving the unique colour. I also stamped onto scraps of pink and red with Versamark, again using the WOW! Rose Gold embossing powder and heat set. Using heart dies, I die cut hearts from the red and pink, ensuring that they wouldn't overlap (i.e. one from the left side, one on the right side). I chose to pop up the pink heart with dimensionals. Here's a close-up.

I matted the entire panel on pink to complete the card. I think that the sentiment is a great reminder on how to live our lives.

Muse Card Club Challenge #223

For a change, it isn't Sunday evening and I'm scrambling to get my card for this week's Muse challenge #223. It's a beauty created by Anita Bowden.





I was inspired by

• the colours
• the "sketch"
• the birthday greeting
• a black butterfly (mine was diecut)

Here's my card

The gals over at Stamp Nation have been showing us how to use gelatos - you know, one of those crafting items I've been hoarding but not using! I wasn't sure how to use them. So, I was inspired to use gelatos. I scribbled the gelatos, then added quite a bit of water with a brush, leaving little puddles over each colour. I then blew across the panel, creating the "bursts" of colour. This wasn't easy, as I'm fighting a cough and it was difficult to generate enough breath to get the colour to move. However, I'm persistent. The butterfly was diecut using Paper Smooches Butterfly Duet. The sentiment is from SImon Says STAMP Birthday Messages stamp set.

Addicted to CAS: Challenge #114

Loving the current challenge at Addicted to CAS

I admit it - sometimes, I worry about too much white space. However, for this challenge, I don't think there could be too much white space! Here's my card

I die cut the sentiment using Simon Says STAMP believe die. For the focal image, I used shimmery white cardstock and die cut using Penny Black's Peaceful Wishes die. I wanted to add more but decided to just walk away. Is it just me, or is it difficult to photograph a white on white card? Here's a close-up that shows the card a bit better

Less is More Challenge #335

We just celebrated the 150th birthday of Canada and I noticed the current challenge at Less is More




Here's my card

I was feeling a bit patriotic and introduced red maple leaves onto my card. I used Hero Arts Color Layering Grateful Leaves and stamped them with Stampin' Up's Poppy Parade and the veining with Simon Says STAMP White pigment ink. The sentiment was created by stacking three die cuts from My Favorite Things Happy Hellos Die-namics.

Here's my card

I stamped the bird and flowers from Your Next Stamp's Spring Birds stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added colour with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I matted the panel with a scrap of pink cardstock. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

This week we are showcasing Art Impressions Products. You don’t have to use them for the challenge but if you have them we would love to see them used.

Here's my card

Now, to be honest, I don't own many Art Impressions stamps. I picked up the 4290 - Spectacular Set at CKC last year. I couldn't resist the super cute critter. I stamped the critter with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him in with Copics. I realized that I didn't leave enough room for a sentiment, so I stamped the sentiment on scrap piece of cardstock. I matted the two on a piece of kraft and then on a scalloped square.
