SHAKER CARDS

Here's my shaker card

I started with Hero Arts' Party Confetti stencil that I received as part of the Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2022 kit. I added color somewhat randomly with distress inks - picked raspberry, abandoned coral, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, cracked pistachio, broken china applied with oval ink blending brushes. I used Recollections' Specialty Polyester Glitter - Confetti for my shaker bits. I die cut the opening using the die from Hero Arts' Yay! Birthday Bundle that was also part of the Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2022 kit. For the shaker, I created a little pouch, larger than the opening, using packaging and double-sided tape. I placed some of the shaker bits in the pouch and closed it with double-sided tape. I prefer to use this method to create a shaker card because I have lots of packaging and I find that dimensional adhesive can be more expensive to use.

Here's my card

I took part in last July's Scrapbook and Card's Today Jolly Holiday virtual event. As part of the kit we received, were the supplies I used to create my card. I started with a light pink A2 card panel. I used the two part layering stencils we received with distress inks - mowed lawn and candied apple applied with oval ink blending brushes. For the holly and berries, I used some of the dies we received in our kit. I die cut a circle from white cardstock using a Sizzix circle die. I stamped the "merry" using Concord & 9's parsley ink onto the circle. I stamped the "christmas" using Concord & 9's poppy ink on a scrap of white cardstock and die cut the sentiment. All the stamps and dies were part of the kit. I decided to trim the pink panel slightly so that a thin white mat would show. I glued the pieces in place and adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

Here's my card

For those who know me, I'm a kitty person. However, I just couldn't resist this cute image from Impression Obsession's Love Pup stamp set. I stamped this adorable pup with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I added color with Ohuhu markers E371, E761, RV194, YG040. I die cut the white cardstock with a My Favorite Things' Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX die. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP's Handwritten Sentiments. I adhered the white focal die cut to a white A2 cardbase with double-sided tape to complete my card.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #664

So glad the cold spell is over, well, for now. Although it makes for great crafting indoors, it's also so nice to get outside and see the sun. It's back to rain, more rain and even more rain! LOL!

Here's my card

I admit it. This one was tough for me. I felt like the sketch was like a flashlight shining on something. Then I remembered the Paper Smooches' Stamp set called A Blessed Christmas. I cut a template for the "light" areas using some printer paper and cut some yellow cardstock using my template. I heat embossed the Holy star using gold embossing powder. I stamped the image of the cradle and Mary and is that Joseph or a wise man?  I decided on some mid-gray cardstock for the background and heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set, this time with silver embossing powder. I glued the "light" areas in place and adhered the A2 card panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #617

Happy Family Day to those in only five provinces in Canada, celebrating with a day off!  For everyone else, Happy Monday! We have a new challenge starting at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch

Here's my card

This was a tough sketch for me. All I could see what Santa's belly - LOL! I looked through some of my supplies looking for a mandela-type stamp or stencil. I settled on Simon Says STAMP's Star Medallion stencil. I added bright colors using distress inks - candied apple, picked raspberry, mustard seed, spiced marmalade, abandoned coral applied with oval ink blending brushes. To cut the edge of the medallion, I dusted off my Creative Memories Custom Cutting System - the large circle and blades. I chose to adhere the partial medallion to a bright red A2 card panel. I stamped the sentiment using Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Thanks stamp set and Gina K Design's Soft Stone ink. For the three circle embellishments, I used a regular hole punch and some silver glitter paper. I adhred the red panel to a white A2 cardbase to complete my card.

Here's my card

For my card, I used the images from Gerda Steiner Design's You Rock stamp set. I had to mask a little so that the three rocks appeared close to one another. I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Ohuhu markers BG042, G177, R588, YG020, YG040 and Copic markers C5 and E50. I stamped the sentiment using the same stamp set. To complete my card, I adhered the A2 white panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Here's my card

For my card, I started by randomly ink blending on an A2 panel of 100 lb bristol with distress inks - bundled sage, scattered straw, pumice stone. I spritzed the panel with a little water for some added detail. When the panel was dry, I stamped the flower using Altenew's Build-A-Flower: Cornflower Layering stamp set. To add color to the flower, I smooshed some distress inks - blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire, mowed lawn, and picked the ink with a wet paint brush. The sentiment uses Simon Says STAMP's Lots of Thanks stamp set. I trimmed the panel slightly and matted with an A2 panel of black cardstock. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base.

Here's my shaker card

For the shaker part, I used some plastic packaging and made a little pocket, approximately 2 1/2" square. I used double sided tape to close the edges but left one edge open, so that I could add the sequins. After I added the sequins, I closed the final edge, again with double sided tape. For the card front, I die cut using Hero Arts Looking Glass Green House dies. I die cut the window from a dark gray and the sprigs of flowers using white cardstock. I added color to the sprigs with Concord & 9's inks - grapefruit, watermelon, wheat, buttercup, marmalade, parsley. I glued the sprigs to the back of the window. 

Here's a close-up of the window.

For the main panel, I started with a light gray A2 card panel and added pumice stone distress ink over a My Favorite Things' Mix-ables Brick Wall stencil with an oval ink blending brush. I die cut a square, a little smaller than the window panel with a square die. This allowed me to adhere the window in place with double-sided tape. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card. I left my card without a sentiment. I could add one later or leave it the way it is.

Yesterday, February 7th, was Send A Friend A Card Day. It's not too late. What a great way to keep in touch with friends, brighten someone's day, send a smile to a friend. Here's my card.

This was meant to be a one-layer card and guess who had some ink on a finger and left a smudge on the panel - yup, me! Ok, backing up a bit. I stamped this adorable image of Winnie the Pooh and his faithful friend Piglet, using Unity Stamps' Winnie the Pooh How Do You Spell Love? stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a white A2 card panel. I added color with Ohuhu markers - G191, G289, R192, RV194, Y691, Y696 and Copic marker RV04. To hide the smudge, I die cut the panel using a My Favorite Things' Stitched Square STAX die. I adhered it to a white A2 note card and stamped the sentiment using the same stamp set to complete my card.

Try A Sketch on Tuesday ~ Challenge #663

Here's my take on the sketch

For my card, I started with Scrapbook & Cards Today's Change the World stamp and die set that I received as part of my Crop & Create Delivered October 2021 kit. I stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder the image and added color with distress inks - picked raspberry, abandoned coral, fossilized amber, twisted citron, peacock feathers, applied with oval ink blending brushes. I chose the colors that matched the patterned papers I chose from a paper pad. I die cut the image with the coordinating die. I cut the strips to roughly 7/16". I glued the strips in place on a light gray A2 card panel and then glued the focal image in place. I heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set, also with white embossing powder on a strip of cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment strip and glued it in place. To complete my card, I adhered the A2 panel to a white A2 card base.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #615

Happy Monday! It's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's our sketch

Here's my card

Sometimes, things just don't go according to plan. I started with a white A2 card panel and intended to stencil the bloom in the upper left corner using Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Roses stencil with distress inks (mermaid lagoon, lucky clover) applied with oval ink blending brushes. Well, I guess, I didn't do a good job of masking the area and I ended up with ink where I had not intended it. So, I decided to fussy cut it and adhere it to a white A2 card base. Keeping with the rose theme, I used Paper Smooches' Roses die set which came with the flower and the leaves. I chose to ink blend some white cardstock with the same two distress inks and die cut from that. I was going to leave the inlaid parts white but the contrast was too extreme so I lightly ink blended those parts (after I glued them in place, of course)! For the sentiment, I used Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Thank You stamp set with white embossing powder on a scrap of green cardstock, which I trimmed to a sentiment strip. I glued the various elements in place to complete my card.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #483

It's time for a new challenge at AAA Cards. Our challenge for the next two weeks is a color challenge. 

Here's my card

For my one-layer card, I started with a white A2 card base, Pink & Main's Mask It Circle stencil and my Wendy Vecchi's Make Art STAY-tion. I positioned the stencil on the front of the card base using the magnets of the Make Art STAY-tion. I then positioned the various sections of Simon Says STAMP's Holiday Horizon stencil and added color with distress inks - bundled sage, hickory smoke, and Concord & 9's Dove inks applied with oval ink blending brushes. For the sentiment, I stamped using a stamp from Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Thanks stamp set.
