Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #274

Hi! It's the start of a week which means that it's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

No automatic alt text available.

Here's my card

For this card, I started by selecting three patterned papers from We R Memory Keepers' Farmers Market 6x6 paper pad. I like using paper pads (you should see my collection) because someone has done the hard work of finding papers that coordinate - using the same colors. I used a Spellbinders Labels 8 die to diecut the flowered paper, that I just noticed, I adhered upside down. Oh well, perhaps the flowers are all falling to the ground? I used My Favorite Things Die-namics Fancy Flourish along with My Favorite Things Die-namics Flower & Leaf Trio for the flourish and flowers. Using the same green as for the flourish, the scalloped border used the die from Simon Says STAMP's Scalloped Stitches dies. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments stamp set. A few pearls in the center of the flowers completes the card.

We hope that you'll give this week's sketch a try and post in our gallery.

Muse Challenge #275

I saw Ardyth's post Friday evening that her card was the only one in the gallery for this week's challenge at Muse Card Club. This week's Muse is this card by Kim Heggins

I had peeked at Kim's card earlier this week. However, I didn't think I had anything in my stash that would work. Then I saw Ardyth's card here

and was pushed to thinking outside the box.

I was inspired by:

  • the purple polka dot paper
  • coffee theme
Here's my card

I started with Paper Smooches' Cozy Coffee dies and die cut the outline, cup and sleeve and adhered them to my A2 card. The sentiment is from Avery Elle's Cool Beans stamp set, using Hero Arts Cup O' Joe ink. A very clean and simple card this week.

{Growing in Unity} Girl ~ Day 5

WOW! Friday, already? I can't believe how fast my week as the {Growing in Unity} Girl. I'm so grateful to Unity Stamps Company for this opportunity to showcase some of their stamps.

Here's my card

For this card, I used Unity Stamps' Love to Go stamp set. I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers. I trimmed the panel to 3"x2.25" and matted it with black cardstock. I found some red printed paper and made a strip 2"x5.5" for the background. I stamped the sentiment and trimmed it down to 2.75"x0.75".

Unity Stamps will be giving out grabs bags of 25 stamps to two random people who comment on my {Growing in Unity} posts, this week. I'll announce the winners next week.

{Growing in Unity} Girl ~ Day 4

Hi! I'm back with Day 4 as this week's {Growing in Unity} Girl for the Unity Stamps company. I am so honored to have this opportunity.

Here's my card

For this card, I used Unity Stamps' Hang in There stamp set. I stamped the cute image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers. I masked the ladybug and added some light background color with Broken China distress ink, applied with an ink blending tool. For a bit of shine, I used a metallic pen for the dots of the dandelion wisp. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

{Growing in Unity} Girl ~ Day 3

Wow. My week is already half over. I'm so honored to be the {Growing in Unity} Girl for the Unity Stamp Company, this week. It's time for card number 3. Here's my card.

I used Unity Stamp's Focus on the Things stamp set for this card. I stamped the main image using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I was selective as to where I added color - the flowers and greenery using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. My goal was to "focus" on the contrast between the black and white and the bright colors. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I added a strip of black striped paper on the left to further emphasize the black/white to anchor the main panel.

{Growing in Unity} Girl ~ Day 2

Hi! I'm back for Day 2 as this week's {Growing in Unity} Girl. I feel so blessed to be the {Growing in Unity} Girl for Unity Stamps.

Here's my card for today

I stamped the image twice, side by side near the bottom of an A2 card panel, using the Unity Stamp Set Little Moments Big Life. I used three Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, in different orders for the flowers and another Prismacolor Premier colored pencil for the leaves. I "smoothed" out my coloring with a Prismacolor Premier blender pencil. I stamped the sentiment in the upper left corner. It felt like something was missing, so I added a black organza bow to the upper right corner. I trimmed the panel down and rounded the corners. I matted it on a bright orange panel, trimmed and then adhered to an A2 card base.

{Growing in Unity} Girl ~ Day 1

So grateful to be the {Growing in Unity} Girl this week on Facebook. My "addiction" to Facebook comes in handy sometimes. I noticed a post looking for someone to fill in as the {Growing in Unity} Girl this week. All I had to do was, be the first to reply "yes" and the week was mine.

It was difficult to pick which of my Unity Stamps stamp sets to use. With the sales, my collection keeps growing!

Here's my first card

I started with Unity Stamps' Itty Bitty Cup of Tea stamp set. I stamped the tea bag onto an A2 card panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added a bit of color with Copic markers. I masked the tea bag and tag with a post-it note, trimmed to size and added some color to the background using distress inks (spun sugar, broken glass, shaded lilac) applied with an ink blending tool. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set onto the bottom right corner of the panel. I trimmed the panel down slightly, matted it onto pink cardstock and adhered it to an A2 card base.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #273

Hi! It's Monday so it's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Image may contain: text

Here's my card

I love pun-ny stamp sets. They make me giggle (well, once I "get" the pun - LOL!). One such set is Clearly Besotted's Feeling Sheepish stamp set. I stamped one of the sheep with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the sentiment using Hero Arts Charcoal and Pale Tomato inks. I added a bit of color to the sheep with Copic markers and fussy cut it. For the sentiment, I die cut it with a Sizzix circle die and matted it using Spellbinders Fancy Scallop Edge circles and gray cardstock. For the banners, I used some Martha Stewart Crafts pastel mat pad printed paper and a scrap of light mauve cardstock.

Anything Goes + Christmas

Here's my card

I have a clean and simple card for you. On a 4.25" x 2.75" panel, I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Color Layering Holly stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I aded some holly from the same stamp set using Hero Arts Field Greens ink and the berries from Hero Arts Bird Words stamp set using Hero Arts Pale Tomato ink. I matted the panel with grey cardstock and then matted that with a silver embossed paper to add a bit of shine and texture to the card.

It's a pretty simple card this time. I stamped the camera and the sentiment from Unity Stamp's Focus on the Things stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added color to the flowers and leaves with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and left the camera a stark black. I like the contrast between the super bright colors and the black.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #272

It's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

No automatic alt text available.

We'd love to see what you create with this week's sketch.

Here's my card

I started with My Minds Eye's Oh What Fun 6x6 paper pad and picked two printed papers. Using 6x6 paper pads, sure makes it easy to pick printed papers which go together. For the stamped image, I used Hero Arts Winter Silhouettes stamp set with Hero Arts Field Green ink. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP's Peace on Earth stamp set, also stamped with Hero Arts Field Green ink.

Muse Challenge #273

Eventhough I'm leaving town for a few days, I was so inspired by Anita's card at Muse that I just had to create something before packing (just hope I'm not up too late packing!). Here is Anita's card

I was inspired by:

  • one layer card
  • use of shaded lilac, salty ocean, cracked pistachio
  • masking
  • foliage silhouette
  • "just because" sentiment
Here's my card

For my one layer card, I matted off a 1.75" area with post-it tape on the front of the card. I added some distress inks with an ink blending tool (shaded lilac, salty ocean, cracked pistachio). I spritzed the ink with some water and blotted up the extra water with a paper towel. I used my heat tool to ensure everything was dry (and I'm impatient). I carefully removed the post-it tape. I stamped the sprig silhouette, using Catherine Pooler's Wild Garden stamp set. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP's Handwritten Sentiments. I added some three dot embellishments using a fine black marker.

Thanks for stopping by (I've gotta get packing!)

A Special STAMPlorations Birthday

Happy Birthday to Shery! She's the owner of STAMPlorations, which is clear stamp, stencil and die company (and also coloring books). I'm so honored to be on her CAS design team. A few thoughtful teammates thought that it would be fun to have a birthday blog hop in Shery's honor. I'm in! If you'd like to check out the rest of the blog hop, go to STAMPlorations

Here's my card

I started by stamping the STAMPlorations Bloomtangled ATC #2 onto a card panel with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added all the vibrant colors with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers with NO water. This way, I could get the very vibrant colors I was looking for. The sentiment uses a stamp from STAMPlorations Fond Expressions 2 stamp set.

Sending a very happy birthday to you, Shery on your special day!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #271

It's time for a new sketch for the challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

No automatic alt text available.

Here's my card

When I saw the Sunny Studio That Sucks stamp set, I knew that I just had to have it. Honestly, my mom didn't like the expression "that sucks". Don't tell her, OK? I stamped the vacuum cleaner onto cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic markers. I trimmed the panel to 2.25" x 2.25" and matted it with black. I found some printed paper that had the color of the vacuum cleaner bag and trimmed them to size. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with Stampin' Up's oval punch and then matted with the dark red/brown punched with Stampin' Up's scalloped oval punch. I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals.

We'd love to see what you create using this week's sketch.

House of Cards - July 1st

It's July 1st, so it's time for a new challenge at House of Cards

Here's this month's inspiration

Popsicle/Food image and/or Colors
Image result for design hues popsicle

Here's my card

I'm grateful to my friend Amanda, who let me borrow her stamp supplies for this card. I used Echo Park Summer Days Die/Stamp combo to stamp the popsicles with Hero Arts inks (Green Hills, Fresh Peach, Orange Soda). For the popsicles, I stamped the outlines onto corresponding colors of cardstock and then used the dies to cut the popsicles out. I stamped the popsicle sticks separately with Hero Arts Soft Brown ink and die cut them out too. The sentiment uses Sizzix's Ice Cream stamp set. I noticed that the "dot" below the exclamation point was missing (huh?) so I used a rhinestone as the "dot". I found some printed paper that had many of the colors of in the inspiration photo, to use as a background for the popsicles.

We'd love to see what you create. Won't you join us?
