Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #675

We have a new sketch challenge starting now at Try A Sketch On Tuesday. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card

For my card I started with Taylored Expressions' Create-in-Quads Layering Stencil Flit & Flutter that I received as part of Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered Spring 2025 kit. I used mowed lawn, peacock feathers, picked raspberry, wilted violet and blueprint sketch distress inks and Concord & 9th's mushroom ink, applied with oval ink blending brushes to add the colors. I used the coordinating Taylored Expressions' Create-in-Quads Layering Stencil Flit & Flutter to die cut the three blooms. I found some tone-on-tone patterned papers which I cut into quarters along the diagonals for the background and adhered to a white A2 card base. The blooms die cut was glued into place. The sentiment using Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Thanks stamp set was stamped onto a scrap of cardstock, cut into a rectangle and glued to the A2 panel.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch in our gallery.

I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments with Concord & 9th's Poppy ink on a scrap of white cardstock. I cut the cardstock to 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" and matted with a teal blue cardstock. I adhered the strip and sentiment to a light pink A2 card panel. I glued the stars in place and adhered the panel to a white A2 cardbase to complete my card.

Die Cut Divas ~ July Challenge with My Favorite Things

It's time for a new challenge at Die Cut Divas. Our challenge this month is

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Our sponsor this month is My Favorite Things. We sadly note that they are getting ready to shut their store. However, before they do, they are giving our winner a $25 gift card. How thoughtful and generous of them. Thank you My Favorite Things for being a leader in our papercrafting world. We will miss you.

Here's my card

For my card, I started by using My Favorite Things' Square Extraordinaire stencil (retired) and ink blended tumbled glass distress ink with an oval ink blending brush. I die cut several flowers, leaves and stems using My Favorite Things' Show of Support dies from scraps of white cardstock. I added color with distress inks (ripe persimmon, peacock feathers, picked raspberry, wilted violet, mustard seed, mowed lawn) applied with mini ink blending brushes. I stamped the sentiment with My Favorite Things' Celebrate You stamp set with Gina K Design's Soft Stone ink. I arranged the flowers, leaves and stems and glued them in place. To complete my card, I adhered the A2 card panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your birthday card creations in our gallery.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #674

We have a new challenge starting at Try A Sketch On Tuesday. Here's the sketch.

Here's my sketch

For my one-layer card, I started with a white A2 card base, side folding. I used Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Splatters stencil and distress inks - faded jeans, candied apple, mustard seed, picked raspberry, wilted violet and salty ocean, applied with oval ink blending brushes. I wiped the stencil clean between colors and re-oriented the stencil before applying the next color. I also added some random background stamping which sadly didn't photograph well. I used Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Euro Elements Cling stamp and Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Bitty Grunge stamp and Concord & 9th's Dove ink. For the sentiment, I used Paper Smooches' Sentiment Sampler and Versafine Onyx Black ink.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch, in our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #637

Has someone sped up the clocks around here? I meant to write this post this afternoon and now it's after dinner! Ugh! Well, it is still Monday so there's that. It's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Here's my card

For my card, I stamped the image using Simon Says STAMP's So Beautiful cling stamp. I stamped on white 100 lb bristol using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added distress ink by smooshing the ink on a plastic place mat, picking up the ink with a damp paint brush and coloring in the image. I used carved pumpkin, mowed lawn, mermaid lagoon, wilted violet, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, candied apple, ripe persimmon, mustard seed, fossilized amber, picked raspberry and tumbled glass. Once dried, I trimmed the panel down to 5" x 3 3/4". For the sentiment, I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts' Color Layering Bouquet stamp set on a scrap of white cardstock which I trimmed to a small sentiment strip. I adhered it to the panel. I also used some black grosgrain ribbon for the horizontal element. I found some black and white patterned paper for the background. I adhered the panel to the background paper and then to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see what you create based on our sketch in our gallery.

AAA ~ Challenge #294

Our challenge at AAA Cards is a little different this time. It's a Follow My Lead challenge.

Here's the card, created by Tristan

Here's my card

I kept the central rectangular focus, framed by white, the yellow element in a corner and the gray and yellow color scheme of Tristan's card. Although, as I look at both cards now, I perhaps should have used a slightly darker shade of gray. For my card, I started with a white A2 card panel. I used My Favorite Things' Rectangle Extraordinaire stencil and My Favorite Things' Cloud stencil. I changed the position of the clouds stencil while ink blending with Concord & 9th's Dove ink, applied with an oval ink blending brush, starting lightly at the bottom and adding more pressure on the blending brush as I moved up the panel. I then stamped the little bird using Neat & Tangled's Swirly Twirly Tags stamp set. I added color with Copic markers Y06 and Y15. I then stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see how you were inspired by Tristan's card, in our gallery.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #496

It's time for the next challenge in our rotation at Addicted to Stamps and More! For the next two weeks, our challenge will be

In case you're wondering what MAKE YOUR MARK means. It means use paint, ink, colored pencils, chalk, pens - something to make a mark on paper. This time, for me, I felt like getting inky.

Here's my card

This was using an idea I saw on Pinterest. Of course, I didn't pin the card, so I don't know who to give credit to. Apologis. I ink blended a white A2 card panel with oval ink blending brushes and distress inks - picked raspberry, mustard seed, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon, spiced marmalade, wilted violet, randomly placed. I then ran the panel with a Cricut Cuttlebug Anna Griffin Blossom Dance Embossing Folder. To give the smoky look, I used black soot, applied with a foam applicator, primarily over the raised areas. The foam applicator is important because it tends to stay on the top surface of the embossed panel. A brush applicator would have added the black soot in all the "valleys" of the embossed panel, too. For the sentiment, I stamped on a scrap of pink cardstock with Hero Arts' Year Round Sentiments. I cut the pink cardstock into a double fish-tail sentiment strip and glued it in place. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your MAKE YOUR MARK creations in our gallery.
