Happy Monday! It's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch

Here's my card

I made a z-fold card. Here's the view from above.

I made a card similar to the one that Gina K made during the Crop & Create Delivered Card Making Event, Fall 2023. I used the Gina K Design's Fancy Florals - layering stencils, stamp set and die set for my card that I received as part of my kit for the Crop & Create Delivered event. I started with white cardstock - 2 pieces cut to 1 5/8" x 5" and one piece 2" x 3 1/2" and Paper Smooches' Essential Stencil with brushed corduroy distress ink applied with an oval ink blending brush. I cut kraft panels, slightly larger than the stencilled pieces and adhered them. For the floral, I used the Fancy Florals layering stencils with dried marigold distress ink, Concord & 9's Grapefruit and Sea Glass inks and PinkFresh Studio's Fresh Pear ink, applied with oval ink blending brushes. I die cut the florals and arranged them on the smaller front panel. I stamped the sentiment using the coordinating stamp set and cut it down to a sentiment strip. I cut a regular cardbase at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4" to create the z-fold. I adhered the pieces in place, making sure that I didn't adhere the entire smaller front panel - just the left side to complete my card.

Here's my card

My critter is definitely a real critter. For my card, I used Sunny Studio Stamps' Oceans of Joy stamp set. I stamped the whale using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I added color with Ohuhu markers - MG031, MG069, R192 and fussy cut the image. On white cardstock, I used Simon Says STAMP's Waves stencil with cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and mermaid lagoon distress inks applied with oval ink blending brushes to created the wavy background. I die cut using a stitched circle die. On a light teal A2 panel, I stamped the sentiment using the same Sunny Studio Stamp's stamp set. I adhered the circle die cut and the whale with glue. To complete my card, I adhered the A2 panel to a white A2 card base.

Here's my card

For my card, I chose "geometric or organic shapes" in addition to silhouettes. For the background circle, I used the bokeh technique, which doesn't really show up in this photo. Here's a close-up.

I started with some white cardstock and ink blended randomly using distress inks - cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and wilted violet applied with oval ink blending brushes. I then added some "bokeh" circles using post-it notes where I had used a circle punch (both 3/4" and 1") to create circle masks, as well as Simon Says STAMP's Polka Dot Party Stencil. I used Color Box Frost White pigment ink, applied with a finger dauber with the various sizes of circle masks, arranged randomly. I then die cut the panel using a Sizzix circle die. I stamped the sentiment using Mint Owl Studio's Banner Sentiments. For the kitty, I used a Sizzix Tim Holtz Thinlits Mischievous die and black cardstock. I glued the kitty in place and adhered the circle to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

Sadly, I needed a Sympathy card for a family as a neighbor passed away unexpectedly. Here's the card

For my card, I started with Hero Arts' With Sympathy stamp set that I received as part of the Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2023 event. I heat embossed with gold, the images which were placed randomly on a black A2 panel. I stamped several times using the same image until the panel was mostly covered. I then used my Yasutomo Pearlescent Watercolor set with minimal water and a paint brush to add color to the petals and leaves. I was careful to only use minimal water as I was not using watercolor paper. I let the panel dry. For the sentiment, I gold heat embossed using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages on some black cardstock which I cut into a strip. I matted with some gold cardstock to help the sentiment stand out a bit. I adhered the strip and mat with double-sided tape and then the panel to a white A2 card base, also with double-sided tape to complete my sympathy card.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #279

We have a new challenge starting today at Addicted to CAS. Here's our next code word.

I struggled with this a bit. What does "masculine" mean? If I'm being totally honest, the line betwen masculine and feminine is a bit blurry for me. This is what I came up with. 

An excavator or construction is no longer limited to exclusively "men". Certainly, the operator of this excavator could very well be a woman. That being said, I know five or six operators who are male and not one female. So, for me, I'm considering this a masculine card. 

I used Pretty Pink Posh's Layered Construction Trucks stencils. I masked off this excavator with scrap paper and added color with distress inks - weathered wood, mustard seed, squeezed lemonade, brushed corduroy applied with oval ink blending brushes. For the sentiment, I used Stampin' Up's I Dig You stamp set and Concord & 9's Mushroom ink. To complete my card, I adhered the white A2 panel to a white A2 card base. If I had properly planned, this could have been a one-layer card. Oh well, next time!

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #666

We have a new sketch challenge starting now at Try A Sketch On Tuesday. Here's the sketch.

Interesting sketch, eh? I was stumped for awhile. I looked through some of my supplies and didn't find anything hexagon related. So, I opted for this. Here's my card.

I used The Crafters' Workshop's Mini Fancy Feathers stencil. I used only one feather of the stencil and used scraps of paper to isolate it. I ink blended orienting the feather from lower right to upper left and in rainbow color order. I used distress inks - mermaid lagoon, wilted violet, picked raspberry, candied apple, spiced marmalade applied with oval ink blending brushes. For the sentiment, I used Avery Elle's Love Notes stamp set with Concord & 9's Dove and Poppy inks. For the feather, I used PinkFresh Studio's Summer Shower ink. I adhered the A2 panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #621

Here's my card

I struggled for a bit with this sketch. I'm always in need of birthday cards so I concentrated on that. I hand cut a mask to cover most of the left side of the card. I then used Hero Arts' Party Confetti stencil that I received as part of my kit for the Scrapbook & Cards Today Crop & Created Delivered event, Fall 2022. I added color randomly with distress inks - wilted violet, tumbled glass, blueprint sketch with an oval ink blending brush on a light blue A2 card panel. I stamped the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental with PinkFresh Studio's Seaside ink. For the cupcake, I used STAMPlorations' Cupcake Builder #2 die set. I started with white cardstock and added distress inks to the die cut - mermaid lagoon, dried marigold, candied apple applied with oval ink blending brushes.  I glued the parts of the cupcake together and glued it in the open, un-inked area. I added three adhesive gems under the sentiment. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Here's my card

This was a personalized birthday card. My friend and I are going to be travelling to Europe. I've hinted about a trip but this officially announced the trip. The cute suitcase was from Spellbinders Advent Calendar 2024, day 24. I took some brown packing paper and scrunched it up. I smoothed it out by hand and added some brushed corduroy and rusty hinge distress ink, applied with oval ink blending brushes to it. I was trying for a leather-look. I die cut the pieces of the suitcase from scraps of cardstock, including gold cardstock for the handle and buckles. I glued the pieces of the suitcase together. For the background, I started with an A2 piece of kraft cardstock and lightly stamped some images from Stampers Anonymous Euro Elements (Tim Holtz collection) with Concord & 9's pebble ink. For the sentiment, I stamped using Paper Smooches' Sentiment Sampler on a scrap of kraft cardstock with Concord & 9's cobblestone ink. I ink blended the sentiment strip with brushed corduroy ink to give a weathered look. I glued the sentiment strip in place and adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

Here's my take on Kristen's beautiful card

I scribbled on a piece of 100 lb bristol with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers - cornflower blue, may bgreen, yellow, bright yellow, orange and tried to move the ink with a water brush. I wasn't very successful but liked the effect I was left with. I let the panel dry and then die cut using Memory Box's Large Olive Branch. I glued the die cut to a white A2 card base. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Thanks to complete my card.

For my card, I used Sunny Studio Stamps' Lovable Llama stamp set and Lovable Llama die set. I stamped the cute llama and party hat with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I added color with Ohuhu markers - E194, Y488, YG020, YG0404 and die cut the images. I die cut a circle with a circle die from cream cardstock to help separate the llama from the starred patterned paper. The sentiment uses Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Birthday stamp set. I adhered the patterned paper to a cream A2 card base and glued the sentiment strip, llama and party hat and circle in place to complete my card.

When I chose this Code Word, I don't recall if I had a plan. So, I had to look through my collection of stencils for some inspiration. I pulled this stencil by Lawn Fawn, called String of Lights Background that I received as part of Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2024 event. I used the stencil and pieces of post-it tape to try to keep the colors separate. I should invest in tiny ink blending brushes so that I'll have better control of where the color goes. I used distress inks - picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn, mermaid lagoon and wilted violet for the lights and twisted citron for the foliage and weathered wood for the string, all applied with oval ink blending brushes. I retrospect, perhaps my string of lights is a bit high. It might have looked better a little lower down. Oh well. For the sentiment, I used Scrapbook & Cards Today's Jolly Holiday stamp set from their July 2024 event along with silver embossing powder. I adhered the A2 panel to a A2 white card base to complete my card.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #665

Here's my take on the sketch

For my card, I started with Taylored Expressions' Be U-nicorn stamp set. I stamped the adorable unicorn on white cardstock and added color with Ohuhu markers - E194, E293, MG011, R192, V891, Y295 and Copic markers BG10, C1, YG11. I trimmed the cardstock so that it would fit behind the 'polaroid' frame. I die cut the 'polaroid' frame using a Lawn Fawn's Say Cheese, Again die. The unicorn panel looks too stark so I lightly ink blended Tumbeld Glass distress ink along the edges with an oval ink blending brush. On a white A2 card panel, I added the clouds along the right edge using Simon Says STAMP's Cloud for Days stencil and distress inks - picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn, mermaid lagoon, tumbled glass. I positioned the frame and applied more distress ink to the right side of the frame aligned with the previously stencilled clouds. To the left side of the card, I used my scoring tool and added vertical lines. I stamped the sentiment from the same TE stamp set to the bottom of the 'polaroid' frame. I adhered everything in place and then adhered it to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #619

Happy Monday! Time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's our sketch for this challenge.

Here's my card

For my card, I made a mini-slimline that measures 3 1/2" x 6". Instead of strips, I went for polka dots. I used Wendy Vecchi's Polka Dotty stencil with tumbled glass, cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and mermaid lagoon distress inks applied randomly with oval ink blending brushes on white cardstock. I removed the stencil and lightly ink blended tumbled glass distress ink over the entire panel. For the sentiment, I used Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Thank You stamp set and a scrap of green cardstock. I cut the sentiment strip with double fish-tail ends. For the flower and leaves, I used Paper Smooches' Flowers 2 die set and scraps of cardstcok. I adhered the elements to the panel and adhered the panel to a white 3 1/2" x 6" card base to complete my card.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #285

Some signs of Spring here in the Pacific Northwest. The crocus and snowdrop flowers have started to appear. I'll definitely take that instead of the piles of snow back east! We have a new challenge at AAA Cards.

Here's my card

For my card, I used the floating circle technique. I cut strips of cardstock, that I felt were Spring colors, using the Optional twist of the challenge. I cut a thin piece of cardstock - about 1/8" wide, as a spacer. I used it to position the larger strips which varied slightly in width. I glued the strips in place on a piece of acetate. I placed the spacer between strips to maintain a consistent gap between the colored strips. Using a Sizzix circle die, I die cut the acetate. It took several passes with my Big Shot, with shims. At the end, I had to trim some edges with scissors. I placed some dimensional adhesive behind the strips, so they stayed hidden and adhered it to a white A2 cardbase. I die cut the sentiment and shadow using Simon Says STAMPS' Script Thanks die. I glued the pieces together and adhered it in place to complete my card.
