Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #309

It's Monday so it must be time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's this week's sketch

Here's my card

I started by making a 3" x 3" panel of flowers and leaves. I used Hero Arts Spring Hero by Lia and Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia stamp sets and Hero Arts inks (tide pool, soft cantaloupe, butter bar, soft sky, fresh peach, green hills). The sentiment is from Altenew's Adore You stamp set, and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink. The panel is matted with blue and green cardstock. I added a strip of striped patterned paper and a blue bow to complete the card.

Would love to see how you are inspired by this week's sketch.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #333

We have a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! It's Addicted to Holidays week.

Here's my card

I used Neat and Tangled Bright Baubles stamp set with Hero Arts inks (cornflower, green hills, fresh peach, pale tomato, sea glass, soft brown, soft cantaloupe, orchid, soft granite, soft sky, butter bar, tide pool) to stamp the tree and the assorted baubles. For the sentiment, I used the same stamp set and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I trimmed the A2 panel slightly and placed it on kraft cardstock.

It's not too early to think about the holidays, is it?

STAMPlorations CAS March Challenge - Reminder Post

At STAMPlorations CAS, the challenge for March is

The reminder post for March challenges can be found here.

Here's the one layer card I made for the reminder post. I started with Zen Hearts stencil by STAMPlorations and added Abandoned Coral distress ink with an ink blending tool. I used some post-it tape to cover the edges of the stencil and the second heart on the stencil because I don't add color too carefully and often find color where I didn't want it. I find that if I use post-it tape, the color goes where I want it. For the sentiment, I used STAMPlorations Power of Words stamp set, stamped with Hero Arts Soft Granite ink.

A simple one layer, clean and simple card for you. Thanks for stopping by.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #307

Happy Monday! It's time for a new sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Here's my card

I started by creating an A2 panel using Stampin' Up's Pattern Party decorative mask and distress inks (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, picked raspberry). I cut the panel into four quadrants, trimming the vertical and horizontal line. I think that I did a pretty good job of trimming the vertical and horizontal lines as you need to look pretty closely to see that in fact, there are 4 panels and not one A2 panel. I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says STAMP's Big Scripty Greetings and then die cut a circle, using Sizzix's circle dies. I used one size larger circle die for the yellow mat.

We'd love for you to join us this week. Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome! I was a bit intimidated to try a shaker card, as I haven't attempted one before. However, I felt that I could manage to make a "mover" card. I decided to try a slider card (although, I haven't attempted one before. It seemed "easier" than a shaker card.) I'll save shaker cards for another day.

Here's my card

I started by stamping the snowman, using The Alley Way's Mistletoe Kisses with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers and fussy cut the image. For the background, I stamped using Sunny Studio's Snow Flurries and Hero Arts Soft Pool ink onto a light blue cardstock. For the snow slope, I used the same stamp set, Versamark ink and clear embossing powder on white cardstock. I used Catherine Pooler Design's Winterhaven dies to die cut the slope. For the slope-shaped slot, I used Papertrey Ink's Movers & Shakers: Spinners Die Collection (set of 3). Because I wanted to "hide" the slot, I needed to do a bit of pre-planning. I attached about a 1.5" x 0.5" piece of white cardstock to the snowman and at the end, I attached a penny, with some dimensional adhesive to separate the penny from the cardstock strip. This "space" is necessary to help the snowman move. Warning - if you're going to make a similar card, you're going to need a lot of dimensional tape. I placed the penny through the slot on the blue cardstock and then used dimensional tape to adhere the blue cardstock to the cardbase as well as making a channel around the slot through which the penny would move. Also, I used dimensional tape to adhere the slope, covering the slope-shaped slot. It's not perfect, as the snowman doesn't move smoothly but I think it's pretty cute.

Be sure to hop over to Narelle, she's next on the blog hop.

Here's our line up in case you get lost along the way.

STAMPlorations CAS - March Challenge

Finally, it's a new month. Hoping we've left the snow and February behind us. It was getting a bit ridiculous.

It's time for a new monthly challenge at STAMPlorations CAS

Here's my card

OK, I admit it. I love this stamp. Now, I'm sad - I see that it has been retired. Oh well, I still have it in my collection. This stamp is STAMPlorations SKETCHED: Tulips. I started with 100 lb bristol and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I added color with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (Scarlet Red, May Green) and with a water brush moved the color around. This technique makes it appear that I'm pretty good at watercolor. Actually, it's the embossing powder that contains the color and those markers and a water brush makes it really easy to do. I find the trick is to not use too much water. I trimmed the panel to 2.75" x 4" and matted with dark gray. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations Grateful Flutters stamp set, stamped with Hero Arts Soft Granite ink.

Thanks for stopping by. We'd love to see your creations.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #331

Welcome! It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! This week the challenge is

Here's my card

Sometimes, "anything goes" challenges are tougher because there is so much to chose from  - embossing? watercolor? clean and simple? patterned paper? Sometimes, it's overwhelming. So, to help me focus, I thought of my sister who loves all things sheep/lamb. I purchase all the sheep/lamb stamp sets I see, so that I could make some cards to send to her throughout the year. For this card, I started with Reverse Confetti's All About Ewe stamp set. I stamped the sheep/lamb with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color/shading with Copic markers W2, W3, C2 and I fussy cut the image out. For the background, I used Hero Arts Scrollwork stencil with distress inks (pumice stone, old paper, antique linen). The sentiment is from the same stamp set - I love pun-ny sentiments.
