Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #680

It's time for a new challenge at Try A Sketch On Tuesday. Here's our sketch.

Here's my card

I started with Echo Park Dots & Stripes Gingham 6x6 paper pad. I chose blue and green gingham. I cut one inch x 3 3/4" strips and 45 degree cuts at one end of the strips. I positioned two strips, pointed ends together for both the blue and green strips. I glued the strips in place onto a medium gray A2 card panel. For the central flower, I used two flowers from my paper flower stash and a brad from my stash. For the sentiment, I stamped using Mint Owl Studio's banner sentiments 1 stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see what you create from our sketch in our gallery.

Die Cut Divas ~ With Birch Press Designs

It's the final day of our September challenge at Die Cut Divas. Our challenge is

ANYTHING GOES

Our sponsor this month is Birch Press Designs. They will be giving our winner a $20 gift card with the caveat that the winner must have a US mailing address. Thank you Birch Press Designs for your generosity.

Here's my card

For my card, I used Birch Press Designs' Block Print Fabulous Flourishes dies. I decided on a white on white card for something different. I die cut the various layers of the blooms using scraps of white cardstock. I glued the layers in place and arranged five on my white A2 card base. To add a bit of interest, I used my scoring board and added two scores above and below the flower placement. Here's a close-up.

I stamped the sentiment using one of my stamp sets (I just can't remember which one. I'm thinking it might be Concord & 9th) using Concord & 9th's Dove ink.

There are hours left in our September ANYTHING GOES challenge. We'd love for you to join us in our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge ~ Challenge #649

Happy Monday! It's time for a new sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch

I took some liberties with this sketch. Here's my card

As you can see, I changed the octagon shape for an arched shape. I started with some green cardstock and Darice's bamboo embossing folder. I used shabby shutters distress ink with an oval ink blending brush to highlight some of the bamboo detail. I then die cut the arch shape with a Scrapbook.com's nested arches die. For the Japanese girl, I used Essential by Ellen's So Matcha stamp set which I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers BG13, BV13 and fussy cut the image. For the sentiment, I used Lawn Fawn's Let's Roll stamp set. I glued the arch with the little girl and sentiment to a light gray A2 card panel before adhering the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see what you create using our sketch as inspiration in our gallery.

AAA ~ Challenge #300

It's time for a new challenge at AAA Cards. Here is the sketch

Here's my card

For my card, I masked off a rectangular area near the top of a white A2 card panel. I used STAMPlorations' Placid stencil and distress inks (peacock feathers, cracked pistachio, mermaid lagoon) applied with oval ink blending brushes. I removed the mask and lightly ink blended a bit of mermaid lagoon distress ink over the white area. I stamped the sentiment using Your Next Stamp's Fishy Fun stamp set and PinkFresh Studio's Aquamarine ink. The fish was stamped from the same stamp set with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers YR07 and YR61. I fussy cut the fish and glued him in the "waves". I added some bubbles with a fine black marker.

We'd love to see how you use our sketch to create your card.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challege #292

It's time for a new clean and simple challenge at Addicted to CAS. For the next two weeks, the challenge will be

Isn't this a great word, especially at this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere. It's definitely feeling like fall here in the Pacific Northwest. Here's my card

For my card, I used Altenew's With Gratitude stamp set. I stamped the leaf stamp twice with Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder on an A2 panel of 100 lb bristol. I also stamped the sentiment in the same way. I added color with distress inks (mustard seed, aged mahogany, carved pumpkin, fossilized amber, tea dye, wilted violet, gathered twigs, crushed olive), a little bit of water and a small paint brush. To complete my card, I adhered the A2 panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your LEAVES-inspired cards in our gallery.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #679

There is a new challenge starting at Try A Sketch On Tuesday Here's the new sketch.

Here's my card

I stamped the images using W Plus 9's Doodlbe Buds stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink on an A2 panel of 100 lb bristol. I added color by smooshing distress inks (picked raspberry, wilted violet, peacock feathers), spritzing a bit of water and picking up the ink with some acetate. The acetate helped to place the ink in the correct area. I kept adding color until I was happy with the result. I added the colors one at a time. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Thanks stamp set. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see what you create with our sketch in our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #647

Happy Monday! Time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with Hero Arts' Hero Florals Lavender Bundle stamp set. I stamped the image onto some 100 lb bristol with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I let the ink dry and added color with distress inks (prize ribbon, wilted violet, rustic wilderness), a bit of water and a paint brush. I wasn't trying to stay in the lines. Rather, I was somewhat hastily adding color. Once the panel was dry, I trimmed it to 1 1/2" x 3 3/4". I matted the panel with purple cardstock. I found some patterned paper with a purple hue and cut it to A2 size. The sentiment is from Mint Owl Studio's Banner Sentiments stamp set. I looked through my stash of ribbons and found one that worked. I made a "fake" bow - it's actually a small piece of ribbon cut on the diagonal on both ends, held in place with a knot in the long piece of ribbon, which is adhered behind the panel. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your take on our sketch in our gallery.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #299

There is a new clean and simple challenge starting at AAA Cards. Our challenge this fortnight is a color challenge.

Here's my card

For my card, I made a mini slimline card. I used Taylored Expressions' Triple Slim Layering Stencil - In The Garden. I used distress inks - villainous potion, dusty conocrd, tea dye and Concord & 9th's Dove ink, applied with oval ink blending brushes. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Bouquet of Thanks and Concord & 9th's Dove ink. I adhered the panel to a mini slimline card base with double-sided tape to complete my card.

We'd love to see what you create using these colors in our gallery.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with a white A2 card panel. I removed the stencil and embossed the panel with Spellbinders EOM - Nov 23 Meandering Floral embossing folder. I removed the embossed panel and adhered it to a white card base with double-sided tape. I added the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages stamped onto a scrap of teal cardstock, cut into a double fish-tail banner. I glued it in place to complete my card.

For the month of September, the challenge at Die Cut Divas is

ANYTHING GOES

Our sponsor this month is Birch Press Designs. They will be giving our winner a $20 gift card. The winner must have a US mailing address.

Here's my card

For my card, I used Birch Press Design's Block Print Fabulous Flourishes dies and Big Thanks Sugar Script dies. I used some yellow-orange scraps of cardstock to die cut the pieces of the blooms and glued the pieces in place. I die cut the sentiment using yellow cardstock. I adhered the elements to a cream A2 card base. I felt that something was missing. So, using a thin brown marker, I doodled a frame to complete my card.

We'd love to see your ANYTHING GOES creations in our gallery.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #291

Time for a new clean and simple challenge at Addicted to CAS. Here's our next code word.

Here's my GEOMETRIC clean and simple card.

For my one layer card, I used Simon Says STAMP's Patterned Circles stencil with distress inks - wilted violet, picked raspberry, mustard seed, spiced marmalade, mowed lawn, blueprint sketch. I masked off each circle so as not to "contaminate" the colors and moved the stencil around, so that the circles, slightly overlapped. For the sentiment, I used Paper Smooches' Chit Chat stamp set. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your GEOMETRIC clean and simple creations in our gallery.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with My Favorite Things' Oval Extraordinaire stencil with distress inks - picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn, peacock feathers, applied with oval ink blending brushes. I removed the stencil and put the panel in a Spellbinders' EOM Sep 22 Scattered Fall embossing folder and embossed it for a bit of texture. I die cut a tag using CASual Friday's Tag Buddies and stamped the sentiment using Simon Says STAMP's Lots of Thanks stamp set and Gina K Design's Soft Stone ink. I added some fibers to the tag and glued the tag in place. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #645

It's Monday which means it's time for a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with the parrot using Your Next Stamp's Parrot-ise stamp set. I stamped the parrot with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copics BG09, G07, R17, W3, Y17. I then stamped the sentiment using the same stamp set and trimmed the panel to 2 1/8" x 4 1/4". I found some festive patterned papers using Stampin' Up's Cherry On Top 6x6 DSP pad and cut out pieces similar to those from the sketch. I matted the two largest pieces with a medium gray cardstock and then adhered all the pieces to the main panel. To complete my card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch in our gallery.
