Generations of Love Blog Hop

This is a blog hop featuring projects inspired by our family tree and our Grandparents in honor of National Grandparents Day.
National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 9th.
This is a weekend hop, but you have until Monday at midnight to finish hopping.
Lorby's World is the blog to start at and she is offering a special prize to one lucky person. All you have to do is hop through all the participants in the blog hop and leave a comment on each of the their blogs. Lorby's World will pick a winner to be announced on Wednesday, September 12th.
Welcome! You should have come from Amanda Rhodes from My Thoughts & Scraps
Here is my project:

When I saw the theme of the blog hop, I knew which picture I needed to showcase. Only problem, I didn't have a copy of the photo. I knew my mom's cousin had a copy and asked him to email a digital copy to me.

This is a photo of four generations. My mom was raised by her grandmother, in Japan during WW II. My mom was 4 years old when they went to Japan and returned at age 14. My mom and her mom had to get reacquainted and my mom had to re-learn English.

The little edge of blue you see around the 12x12 page, is my self-healing mat. I didn't want to put my scrapbook page on the cement outside. I made some lanterns by stamping one of the larger circles from Stampin' Up's Circle Circus stamp set onto white cardstock. I punched the circles out using a 1.5" circle punch. I then ran the circles through my Fiskar's crimper for some dimension and to mimic lanterns. I traced the edge of a dinner plate for the string from which I hung the lanterns. I matted the photo with a light teal because it was the color of the dress I was wearing. Unfortunately, in those days, pictures were black and white!

  2. I love the lanterns! I will have to look for that stamp. I think it's ironic that we both chose a 4 generation's pic!
